FilthyBeast
Honestly what would be the point of this move anyway considering how loaded this team already is at the skill positions? If you want this offense to truly get better make a move for another veteran guard or TE. Conversely I'm still wary of the defensive backfield, so why not go after a proven veteran safety to replace Hyde or DB?

Heavy Kevi
DO IT! The cap is a joke and can be manipulated. We need a Lombardi trophy, not a 1st round pick right now. McCaffrey is young enough, and he wouldn't have to worry about being a bellcow here, and could make the most of his touches. And he could even be on a pitch count until the playoffs. This is the type of move that can jettison a team to the next level. Get Odell too, let's gooo! 1

unbillievable
This won't happen until the 11/1 trade deadline, The Panthers have to make sure that they can't salvage the season. Leonard Fournette, after helping carry TB to a SB, got 3/$21M. Melvin Gordon got 1/$2.5 Most big RB contracts are the deals immediately following their rookie deal, and then fall off a cliff for their 3rd contract. With no guaranteed money remaining, Beane could bring him in this year for $600k, then say "How about 2/$15M with $10M guaranteed?" If he doesnt take it, cut him and let him try the market next year. But he might sign it to get that guaranteed money as an aging RB who has been dinged up. The contract is meaningless at this point. Contracts dont expire on trade. If he was cut thats a different story. His contract will still exist when traded. His remaining cap hits are 20, 20, and 15. The Bills would be on the hook for that. No thanks.

Rigotz
Just curious .... would anybody do James Cook for Christian McCaffrey straight up? If I'm the Panthers, I would take that deal. Cheap contract and similar skill set, with upside. I've watched every Panthers game this year and McCaffrey is a significantly better player right now, but he's got a lot of mileage and is expensive. If I'm the Bills, I would take that deal as well. 2 1 2

Does he agree to redo the contract??? Doubt it. You put him in this O and we are unstoppable but I don’t see it happening and hope I’m wrong. OMG yes that is exactly what this team is in need of but i wouldn't put anything past Beane the dude is genius when it comes to this stuff & given where McCaffrey is and what the team is like i'm sure he may do a little wheeling dealing with his contract to be on a SB contender like the Bills . Especially seeing as they just canned their coach so that means they will be in limbo the rest of this year until they can get some stability & he ain't getting no younger . I hope they make a deal to take Moss down there & maybe someone that they don't use a lot like Hodgins if they aren't going to use him that might sweeten the deal a bit . The Bills have some good players to dangle in front of the Panthers to make this work & we have the Magic Beane on our team !!

You can't be serious. Trading a 2nd Round pick with all the tread left on the tires after only 5 games in the league and could develop into a great RB for a guy with an absolutely INSANE injury history, almost completely worn tires, and will decline quickly? Absolute insanity. Edited October 10, 2022 by BillsFanForever19

I thought that on a trade that the trading team is only on the hook for bonuses already paid, not future bonuses. I cant seem to find much clear info on this. In any case, I still wouldnt want a 12m per year RB. This team has other players it needs to pay and has no room already. 22 minutes ago, BrooklynBills said: After this year with basically no cap hit, he's on a 3 year $36 million contract with 0 GTD $$. The cap is real enough that they havent paid Poyer and there is no way this team is going to be able to keep all 3 of Gabe Davis, Edwards, and Oliver. It may not seem real because teams kick the can down the road all the time. That eventually catches up to them.
