free trip to hawaii

A guy who makes $40M/year doesn't care about a free trip anywhere. He can go to Hawaii any time he wants on his own dime. His economic impact would be about the same as the average fan going out to dinner.

too many commercials to shoot

I actually like that he doesn't.  But I cannot turn on the TV without seeing Mahomes or Rodgers in a new commercial. I just can't imagine being a star NFL QB with all the demand to watch film and be at practice, then try and squeeze in time for a Hulu or State Farm commercial a few days a week? And for what, a couple mil here, a couple mil there? Allen is about to make $250M in the next few years, endorsement money is a fraction of that.

I would most definitey protect my rest for the betterment of my team, career, mental/physical health, and winning a Super Bowl.

Just does not seem worth it at that point.

And it is no longer in Hawaii.  Many players would have issue with going there since vaccine required and they have an "Antonio Brown" rule and they arrest anyone with false cards.

I don't even think Allen has a ceiling...

Let's all remember how raw he was coming into the league.  He then becomes MVP Runner-Up to Aaron Rodgers in Year 3 and has a Playoff Run in Year 4 where I'm pretty sure he was levitating.

The jumps he's been able to make year to year have been insane.

We all knew he is one of, if not THE, most talented QB to ever come into this league.  That guy we saw against NE and KC cannot be stopped by an opposing team.  It took Daboll inexplicably going ground and pound for two drives to prevent Allen from throwing for 6 TD's.

As long as we protect him, and give him weapons, we will have the best QB in the NFL for the next decade.

Next year he'll walk on water and make blind men see (refs).

these are shot in the off-season, when these guys are playing golf and screwing around.  The whole ad campaign probably takes less than a week of the athlete's time.

No player is turning down an extra 2-3 million a year in endorsements.

YES!  The lame azz "pro bowl" doesn't deserve him.  I hope they have to ask Carson Wentz to play, serves them right.

I've long since tuned out to the joke that it has become.  It's a glorified practice and player beach party.

Me too.

I used to love the Pro Bowl, because the players actually played as if it were a real game.

I doubt Dion will since it's his first.

Agreed.  I would expect any player actually voted in to attend.  It IS an honor, even if a watered-down one.  Josh was smart, too — no snark in his message, blaming it on needing to rest.  We all know the real story.

I always appreciated that it was after the Super Bowl and we got another chance to see our Bills' all stars one more time.  And you're right... I believe both conferences played for pride... nothing like the jersey swapping, flag football competition they serve up today.

Tbh I think Josh is being genuine in his comments. I think he would find it hard to not be himself on the field, and his style and competitiveness is too much risk of injury. Not to mention, over the last few weeks he ran the ball a lot and got tackled a lot and really does need recovery. I also think he’s probably a bit mentally exhausted after that game and not really in mindset yet to to go play around in Vegas at the pro bowl. He wants to be playing in a real game right now,  not that.

overall, mature decision with a side order of F U

We went to Hawaii the first week of this year.  Glad we did because they now mandate a booster shot.
