Tre White knee injury UPDATE: Out for the Season Notification top of page 1

I am hoping for something like an MCL sprain.   Lots of conjecture.  I know Tre was really upset...but according to Hyde, he was really excited about playing In N.O. because grew up near there and went to school at LSU.  He was really excited about playing in front of family and friends.   So his being as upset as he was could have been because of an injury taking him out of the game.  I know the speculation is for a lot worse with an ACL tear.  We'll see and the Bills need to respond accordingly.

If it’s a torn ACL, typically they know from testing by the team docs right away.   Then, the MRI confirms it.

I’m assuming we’ll hear something today.   I can’t remember too many, if any, of these injuries to star players that went beyond the next day with no news.

There just delaying it as long as possible to not give belicheat any kind of advantage until completely necessary

Nope. I'm actually going to double down. This Bills defense will actually get better if or when Tre is out the rest of the year. Tre wasn't exaclty playing lights out against the Titans & Colts when  they scored a lot of points on us.

Losing what may be our best player on defense will make us better because he did not play "lights out" (in your analysis) in two games?

Carson Wentz was 11/20 for 106 yards.  But even if you were accurate there, and White had an awful game against the Colts and Titans, it is radically illogical to say that losing their best defensive player, and one of the best corner backs in the NFL, will mean the Bills 'defense will actually get better'.

Makes no sense.

The Bills may be okay if they lose White for the year, and may rise to the challenge.  But losing White would be a big obstacle to overcome.

The pessimist in me says this is because it's bad news and probably there's a second opinion being gathered..

I'm opposite.  If it'd torn its torn and it would be out by now.  That's pretty easy to diagnose and see.  If it's not torn then it's a matter of figuring out how bad it is before announcing.

This.

Acl is a simple diagnosis.  They would have said there was a fear it's season ending or something immediately.  We have literally heard nothing.

Harrison Phillips just isn’t a good player.

I am not convinced Harry's struggles were anything to do with his injury. He just isn't very good. He has the odd good game but he has more bad than good.

Harry also stinks at football. You can't compare the two.

Agree, he's certainly not at the level of White in playing ability, but that doesn't change the recovery time.  Phillips also seems to be playing this year better than last, even last year, played better in December than he was in September.  So if it weren't related to the recovery, how come?

IF it's a torn ACL expecting him to be back at peak or even close to peak form in September is very optimistic.   Thought I recall him even commenting early last year he didn't feel right yet?

A DB to do what though? Nothing all year just like Jones and Kumerow? This entire debate about DB depth makes no sense. Hindsight is always great when we now know which position may have suffered the season ending injury.

Well the Bills have played multiple blowout games. Another DB on game day lets the starters sit. Also they can be rotated in from time to time to get them some game experience.  Thats how you develop young players. Plus they get reps in practice.

Isn't that exactly what they are doing with Dane Jackson? He is the young player they have betting getting ready.

Whelp that is the worst possible thing that could have happened outside of Allen getting injured. The offense needs to step up the rest of the year. We aren't going to have the best pass defense in the league anymore, no more room for error. Hopefully Tre is back and fully healthy by the start of next season.

The type of injury where the offense, defensive line, and defensive schemes need to pick up the slack. It can be done and needs to be done.

Bruce Smith missed the majority of the 1991 season and was largely  not effective in the games he was available to play. The Bills still went to the Super Bowl that season missing one of the greatest ever to play.

Our defense is loaded with talent. Next man up and the whole team can overcome this tough loss.

Levi Wallace probably becomes the most important player on this defense now. The drop off gap we need to worry about isn’t from the starters to Dane Jackson. It’s the drop off from Tre to Levi at #1

Go out and sign 3 or 4 veteran CBS with legitimate NFL experience and see if you can get lucky to piece this thing together. Can’t just fold up shop and you can’t just rely on what we have. Give yourself outs here.
