They usually do a MNF double header the first weekend of the year. Here's the reason for the change.......new tv contracts/more money. In the new ESPN/ABC contract with the league, the annual "Monday Night Football" doubleheader was expected to make its return this season with a twist. ESPN will up its slate of games from 17 to 23 and will have three games exclusively on ABC in addition to games being played on ESPN -- so there will be three weeks of "Monday Night Football" doubleheaders in 2022 and each season after. ESPN will also have the right to flex a "Monday Night Football" matchup from Week 12 through Week 18. ESPN+ will also have an exclusive game, which will be one of the international games on the calendar.

What they’re doing this year is different but I think I understand it. ESPN is trying to dominate viewership over a 5-hour time slot while appeasing east coast fans who won’t stay up for a 10 p.m. start time. For fans of any of the four teams playing there’s no conflict; they will watch their team’s game. For the rest of the general NFL-watching public, they’ll watch the Bills-Oilers early, switch back and forth during the overlap, and then watch the Vikings-Eagles finish.

Greg S
Why are their two Monday night games anyway? I know the league has had two Monday night games in the past but that is usually a week one double header. Granted last night was Wilson's return to Seattle so maybe the league wanted the spotlight for that game only but then just have one Monday night for week 2 and beyond. I can't believe Seahawks fans mostly booed Wilson considering everything he has done for that organization.

I thought the same thing at first with Russ but for all he did for the Seahawks, he was also pretty vocal about not wanting to be there for the better part of the last two years. I can understand the fan reaction. Don't agree with it, but can understand it.

I'm often at work by 5am (beating Atlanta traffic and a few hours of no interuptions). Thursday I left work around 10:30am, took my usual mid-afternoon snooze, and then took Friday off to sleep in while visions of superbowls danced in me head. So glad the west coast can enjoy the Monday night games, but other than those in which the Bills have played, I've hardly seen any Monday nighters in years. I'm usually snoring on the sofa by 9:30.

frostbitmic
For the most part the Titans are one dimensional, stop Henry and your chances of winning are really good. We added three new DTs who are pretty good at doing just that.

Inigo Montoya
3 keys to the game; 1. As usual, it all comes down to containing Derrick Henry. The Titans had 46 offensive snaps vs the Giants last week and 21 of them were runs to Henry and he had one target in the passing game. 47.8% of the entire Titans' offense vs the Giants was Henry. There were only five runs to someone other than Henry last week. 2. This relates to point 1 above, the Bills' offense needs to get off to a fast start and put points on the board and force the ball out of Henry's hands and into Tannehill's. I don't think Tannehill can go toe to toe with Josh in a shoot out. That offense is not going to score more than 30 points against our defense. The Titans have to be hoping to keep Henry on the field chewing up clock and Allen sitting on the bench. The Bills can't let that happen. 3. The Titans' defense had 5 sacks and 8 QB hits on Daniel Jones last week. I think that our O-Line is more capable than the Giants, but keeping Josh upright is going to be vital to keep drives alive and put points on the board.
