Wade Phillips v. Buffalo Bills.  He fired me!  He resigned!  He fired me!  He resigned!  All depends on what's in the contract.  I would argue that if Gruden was fired, it would be for cause.

this was for cause.  They likely have some settlement buy out in this or they let him keep signing bonus money.

I don’t know what all the emails say specifically. But could Gruden have been annoyed that the nfl basically blackmailed the Rams into drafting Michael Sam to avoid hard knocks?

And that’s why he called Goodell a f*****t?

Not getting where this one is going.

Right, but I think there's a big difference between ***** cancel culture and very valid complaints over these emails, ESPECIALLY if they were sending pics of topless women and cheerleaders back and forth.

Accountability exists

Like I said.....Gruden has no one to blame but himself.

How did these emails surface?

The league was conducting an unrelated investigation involving WFT (big surprise there.) Bruce Allen was who Gruden was talking to. Someone at the league involved in the investigation leaked them.

Was Gruden using his personal email or were these from a team or ESPN address?

I don't even work in football and if HR caught an email from me calling Goodell a f*****, ripping on females in sports, talking about black peoples lips, and being upset about gay people being in the work place, I might also get fired.

It’s a lot of hypocrisy.  If this has happened last year, then that’s one thing.  But this happened a decade when Gruden was in a completely different situation and our world was a much different place.

It happened over the course of 7 years, ending, i believe when the Raiders hired him.

I have to feel if this was the case, he wouldn’t be resigning and would force them to fire him. Unless he has some kind of moral clause and he knew he wouldn’t be compensated regardless.

From how they explained it on T.V. it sounds like he "resigned" 😉

And the amazing thing is there are still some people defending him.

I don't like people losing their jobs over being an idiot, although in this situation he probably had to, but people shouldn't defend him. That's just crazy.
