Huh? What?

Baker has looked meh this season,   mbe injured more than we've been told,  mbe OBJ is a huge negative for their offensive cohesion.   could be anything really.   just doesnt look right this year.   Darnold looks like terrible Darnold again.   would still take Baker over Darnold at this point.

Brownies have had some terrible injuries this year,  not sure what the Panthers problem is other than they played terrible teams the first 4 weeks,  McCaffrey being out is a big loss as well.

He makes GREAT commercials though

And how has Darnold passed Baker?

More wins- no

Better stats- no

Made playoffs-no

Won a playoff game- no

In more commercials- no

Me thinks OP hates Baker.

I have a friend who is a Jets and OSU fan. When Baker came out he wanted no part of him cuz of the OSU flag incident. To this day if I mention that Baker is pretty good he'll have no part of it. Maybe something similar happening here.

And folks shouldn't judge Baker by his stats only.  Last week he put up good numbers but when the game was on the line the Browns clearly did not put the ball in his hands for those last two critical possessions.  This was in contrast to the Bills putting the ball in Allen's hands to lock up the win on that 92 yard drive in the 4th quarter against KC.

And a great example of how Mayfield's stats are misleading:  today in a 37 - 14 loss in which the Brown's fell behind 20 - 0, he was 19/28 for 234 yards, 2 TD's and 1 INT for a QB rating of 102.4!  Talk about stats not reflecting reality.  Then throw in baker's 2 lost fumbles and he played very poorly today though at the end of the year the stat line won't show it.

Stats I saw today had his QBR even better at 111.3.  But the Browns might be stuck at say 9 wins every year with him at QB no matter how good the rest of that roster is. He just can't take a team to the next level or carry a team

Let me ask this question again!

Who tf is Baker. How does this guy rate to be called by his first name only. What has he done to the equal of LeBron, Kobe,.

Few athletes in this world reach that status and usually after many years of success.

Not Joe Namath, not John Unitas, not Tom Brady, not Jim Kelly, not Dan Marino, not Peyton Manning,

That means QB Rating and QBR are dumb statistics. Right up there with completion%. They all dont tell the story of what happened on the field in full context. No stat really does but some people treat stats as gospel

I’m no fan of the Brownies, but isn’t the BM…, playing injured?

Rudolph may end up being better than Darnold or Mayfield.  Forgot he was in that draft class.   I think all 3 are good, but not elite qb’s.

Because you post on here, I make the assumption that you actually watch NFL football. How you could think that Mason Rudolph is a good quarterback is beyond me. They are literally playing the rotting  corpse of Ben Roethlisberger this year instead of him.

Dislocated his shoulder again. Yes, he’s playing injured for sure.

How many hits can a dislocated shoulder take before he puts himself out of a job…,

Baker Mayfield was the most pro ready QB of his class. Josh Rosen was the most pro ready of his class. It was clear.

What they assumed was that these QBs had also a higher ceiling in addition to a higher floor. GMs wanted to rebuild faster than investing in a Josh Allen type with a high ceiling but long development plan.

I don't think so as of now, but... Darnold seems to have reached Baker's  best NFL level this season, if not surpassed it...

Wutttt? I live in Carolina and watch their games (on the 2nd smaller TV if Bills are on).... dude had a good few games to start the year, but has really reverted back to old form the last 2.5 games. Frustrating

ALSOOOOO

I'm prepared to get flamed here, but I am 100% taking Baker over Lamar too.

Bakers stats are down. He's hurt. Their offense is very balanced/leaning towards run game. They have Chubb and Hunt, and a good defense. It's just the way that teams built 🤷‍♂️

Does it matter?  I mean he’s either 3 or 4…but Allen and Lamar are 2 tiers higher than both Baker and Darnold.  I mean they are a distant third regardless who you put at third.

I would still take Baker over Darnold personally, Darnold doesn’t have the balls to be good.

But again, it doesn’t really matter.  Neither is remotely close to the top of the class of Allen and Lamar.

So do they give him a huge contract or let him play out the 5th year?

Is his performance hurt by the NTS injury?

It sure hurt Josh in 4 games last year 2 of which were KC and Tenn.

So far the only one of that group that has been paid is Josh, Lamar should get his at seasons end and Darnold might if he keeps it up.

Baker flashed as a rookie regressed as sophomore lit it up his third year and is now in regression mode again(this started before the injury)

Baker stinks this year.  The Browns have 1 quality win.  There's no fact based reason to prefer Baker right now over Jackson.

I don't know.  Seems like he has made the Browns into a playoff contender every year.  Played better against the Chiefs in the playoffs than the Bills did last year.  As others have mentioned, he has been playing hurt recently.

Well it's track record and ceiling taken into acct, plus I think Bakers hurt more than they're letting on

Baker's will be a career 3500 yard/25 TD a year passing QB.  With or without in jury, that's what he has been. It's what he is.
