I get that McDermott can't just come out and say "He's not game ready because he spent the last year rehabbing an injury, not practicing in training camp."  There's no way to say that about a veteran player in a way that doesn't come across as a slight.  But it would be nice if this staff could find some way to communicate with fans in a manner less reminiscent of North Korean state media.  I don't mind the gamesmanship that took place this week with Allen's elbow, but fans do have a legitimate right to know basic stuff that's going on with notable players.  They're being extremely well-compensated for giving up that aspect of their personal privacy.

This is a perfectly reasonable criticism of the situation

They don't owe you anything on Kim, the stadium, Tre or anything else.

Yes, because all top pro athletes know the best way to your next payday is sit around and to do nothing, no big deal.  And also, pro athlete don't have any drive, so they really WANT to just sit and do nothing and collect a paycheck. Seems pretty plausible. 🙄

I'm not sure why he's not playing (other than, you know, a major injury that required surgery), but I'm guessing it's not just laziness like many here seem to think

Yeah, those professional athletes are so darn lazy!

My kids never played beyond high school, but they were good there. Even they would go to the gym at 5:30am so they didn’t miss lifting when they had two a day practices. To play at a high college level and make it to the pros, you worked to make it happen. Worked HARD!

One son came back from a torn ACL/MCL, and he struggled with trusting the knee for quite a while. It’s a very real thing. I don’t know what’s going on with Tre, obviously, but that may be a factor.  Whatever it is, it’s not him being lazy after he made some money. I don’t see him as a Haynesworth, Darius kinda guy. He got paid and worked. He got hurt, and he needs to be ready to come back and help.

I agree with you about Kim.  I've never posted about her health issues other than just general well-wishes.  Not idea where that come from.

The team absolutely owes all of us information about the stadium, because it involves public financing and is therefore an immediate pocketbook issue for all taxpayers.  Not our business?  Get out of here with that.  It's totally our business because the NFL is making it our business.

Players are an edge case.  On one hand, you want to respect their privacy as adults.  On the other hand, transparency about injuries is important in any game that involves wagering.  And if the team expects me to show up on game day and to buy their gear, it's not unreasonable to have some general understanding of what's going on with the roster.  Players sign up for a certain amount of that when they accept their signing bonuses.  Again, I'm not asking for total transparency about everything.  That's not reasonable.  It would just nice to know if Tre's injury is healing a little more slowly than we would like or if it's something else.  And I'm aware that I have no legal right to that information -- just saying it would be nice to know.

Edit: Maybe another way to put is that I'm not saying that the team owes us every nugget of information about every single person on its payroll.  What I am saying is that, on the margin, I would prefer it if the team were slightly more forthcoming about certain players' injury status.  That's all.

Tre’s issue isn’t physical, he healed from the ACL surgery long ago. He put himself through a strenuous rehab, has been cleared by team doctors to play, and is no longer designated on the injury list. He even took off the red practice jersey.

I get the sense he isn’t his old self yet and he knows it. He doesn’t want to step on the field until he’s closer to that version of himself. I remember Diggs saying a few weeks ago when he had a rep against Tre that it was good to run with him again and he can’t wait to get back to the battles the two have had. I thought that was a nice way of saying “Tre isn’t Tre yet.” But in the world of professional sports, at some point he’s going to have to get out there even if he doesn’t feel like his Pro Bowl self.

Teammates are counting on him, his presence and knowledge is needed just as much. Weeks ago Frazier said just that: Tre is close and we can’t wait to get his positive energy back on the field. He’s gotta come out of hiding and work his way back to the player he used to be - and not entirely in a practice setting, I don’t think that’d be fair to his teammates who are gutting out various other ailments. I said it before, barring snow, I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t suit up against the Browns. The pressure on the organization only intensifies after losses and that pressure should force Tre out of witpro. Let’s see what happens Sunday.

Let’s also get it out there that easing back into game action on a snap count is completely reasonable. I don’t get why we can’t dress him and ease him back into live action slowly to clear any mental hurdle. Nobody expects him to play 100% of snaps right away at an all pro level

He had to be activated or shut down for the year is my understanding of the rule.

They could have activitated him and put him right back on IR for another 4 weeks as long as they put him on the roster first.  Sal said this as it was nearing the deadline.

No reason to not play this game. We need him. Maybe he really did have a setback. Allen plays hurt and White isn’t even technically hurt, just “rehabbing” .

You do realize that Chase Young tore his acl on November 14 last season and is still out, right? Sheesh.

I’m not questioning Whites toughness, or willingness to play. I am questioning what’s going on it’s been just about a year since he got hurt, and I’m starting to get concerned that he’s not playing yet as I’m seeing several others return to play quicker than White.

Chase Young tore his acl 9 days before White did and is still out. And he is elite.

I know Benford gave up some contested catches to Jefferson and had a missed tackle on that long run but I thought for a rookie in a tough spot, he battled hard was in good position most of the time, encouraged by his play.

Frazier and McDermott left Jackson and Benford on an island all game long.

The 4th-18 was 13 seconds all over again.

EVERYONE watching that game knew where that ball was going to go.

Any double team? Nope.

I did something to one of the ligaments in my knee (not a sports injury) back about 15 years ago. Of course I am out of shape, a senior citizen and never got it operated on. Still have problems with it every so often. Why are people complaining about Tre?

I don't follow why you wrote sentences 1-3.  What does your incident have to do with Tre?

Your fourth sentence is a good question.

I am surprised at the number of people calling into question Tre's "toughness" or desire to play, etc.

I think the whole thing is ridiculous.  I do wonder what the hold up is, though.  I hope his medical/rehab care has not been sub-par.

Coach literally said White doesn't feel like he's ready.  I mean if he isn't ready now, when will he be?  He's only been practicing for 3 weeks now....

Players on injured reserve can’t practice so maybe it was thought he was ready but once he started practicing he found he wasn’t.

I'm saying that knees are not like mending a broken arm or leg. They take a long time to heal. Years ago, when the surgery and recovery was not as sophisticated, such and injury would take years off a career. See Gale Sayers.

What about Tre White's career so far would lead anyone to question his desire to play?  He is one of the highest energy players that I have ever seen.  To insinuate that he is just choosing to sit out is boggling to me.  From what I have read so far, he has been working incredibly hard to try and recoup and get back into football shape.

Do you think that maybe, just maybe, there is a chance that the people who are in the building with him, working with him everyday might know a little bit more about his current readiness than us here on these boards?  Do you think that maybe there are legitimate reasons why he was activated when he was, that affect not only him but also the rest of the roster moving forward to the end of this season and into the playoffs?

Just my 2cents

A healthy White is surely needed at this point...... Any one remember Bruce Smith's 91 season? That one was a frustrating recovery process that took him most if not the whole year. Never played in 91 like he was capable ...

His incident is another example in a line of many that people heal at different rates. You don't have to be a pro athlete to give your experience. Never understood why people get so butt hurt when people provide personal experiences.

Everyone is flipping out saying player x came back in this amount of time so why isn't Tre back. Well he's not ready not everyone heals the same.

Everyone wants OBJ this year well in oct 2020 he tore his ACL and tried to come back too early playing 14 games and was bad the first half of the year(yes some of that could be playing for browns, but he clearly wasn't himself early on)

I told my stepdad at beginning of game they're gonna just throw to Jefferson all game and we won't double him and it'll kill us. He said no McDermott won't let that happen...

Not trying to dog Tre with this, but it’s now reported on ESPN that Chase Young is set to be activated this weekend. He was injured on Nov. 14, 2021 with a similar injury. I know every player/position/injury is different, but it’s at least a little perplexing that he’s not ready yet (per McD and his incessant secrecy) considering there (reportedly) hasn’t been a set back and guys with a similar injury around the same time (or earlier) are back. Absolutely need him back for the upcoming division games, but hoping we see Tre worked back in a bit this weekend (though Snowmageddon 2022 may impact that).

GMFB discussing us this morning.  Overall pretty positive, basically said we'll figure it out on Offense and just need to get healthy on Defense... but definitely a little bit of a concerned/sarcastic tone when talking about Tre White and when he's coming back.

I only point that out to say that it's not just people on this board.

By this thought process, you at least need to give Tre nine extra days then.  At that point, you are allowed to be perplexed.
