McDermott contract extension

He was the moment. More so than Andy Dalton's pass or drafting Josh Allen or even the Pegulas buying the team.

The moment this franchise hired Sean McDermott was the moment everything changed. I lobbied for us to fire Rex a year earlier to hire McDermott. I loved the hire when it came and I love the extension. He is the reason we are relevant again.

So, we got this going for us  ??

Sean came in with a plan, and a way to implement the plan. Good to know he will be a round for a while longer.

Does anyone know how long the extension is for? Didn’t see it in the press clippings.

Go Bills!!!

Want to see him win some meaningful games

We all want playoff wins (no one more than him) ... but getting the Bills to 2 playoff appearances in the last 3 seasons with 2 different QBs is unprecedented success in Buffalo after the team failed to reach the playoffs in the 17 seasons prior to his arrival. McDermott completely changed the perception of the franchise. It’s on display every time we hear from a player, analyst, etc.

This.  Beane is doing a great job and will likely get his extension soon  well, but McD is the engine.

well done terry and Kim. Pay the man that deserves it

Agreed. And Beane is only here because of McDermott. While I believe they are pretty much in lock step you are dead right that McDermott is the engine..

so did Marvin Lewis for the Bengals.  Here’s the thing I love Beane. I am not quite sold on mcd. Depends a lot on how our offense looks this year. Would you think mcd could coach like vrabel did in the playoffs against the pats?  Run the ball 50 times and only throw 7 times?  I don’t get that feeling right now

The Patriots get 2.

Three.  Only because McD ran off young Belichick trying to spy on the Bills last year.

I guess I'm a pessimist, but I'm not happy with this decision.

I think he's a fairly average coach. The 2017 Bills were a very mediocre team that finished 9-7 and made the playoffs only through the grace of god. The 2019 Bills were a bit better, but finished 10-6 with an insanely easy schedule.

The team is trending in the right direction, but if we don't take that next step I think we'll regret this decision.

Compared to the Sabres, the Bills need all the stability they can get from ownership.......

Actually they only made the playoffs through the grace of winning enough games and having key tiebreakers.  And I can't believe how ungrateful it sounds to complain about making the playoffs 2 times in 3 years after 17 GD years without sniffing it!!!

Well it took 4 pages but there it is......So playoffs 2/3 years is not sufficient.  He is a good coach and you will have a hard time finding better.  He is well respected in the league.  The Bills are off the coach roulette wheel and that is great.

Who do you suggest is better for the Bills?

Why are we rushing into an extension when he still had 2 years left on his first contract?

His the best coach we've had since at least Wade, but all he's shown so far is that he can take average teams to a first round playoff exit.

I would've waited at least 1 more year before extending.
