McD is crazy for wanting to establish the run and play complementary football

Man, this dinosaur just doesn’t get it.

Trying to run the ball down a teams’ throat, sustaining long drives and keeping our defense fresh to attack an off-balance offense?

This is crazy. We need to run an offense like Dallas and throw almost every play, like genius offensive HC’s like McCarthy do.

This is why defensive coaches will never win anything. Stuck in the stone ages.

To be fair, we won't win anything because his defenses have crapped the bed in every single game the Bills have been eliminated in in the playoffs in the JA era. Doesn't really have much to do with how the offense plays. Although this was a game that the weather and Dallas' league worst run defense dictated a heavy dose of the Bills run game.  Meanwhile, google how the Bengals defense has OVERPERFORMED their regular season performances every postseason.

BUT I'll hold out hope still that the stars will align and the Bills win won with the current coach/QB duo.

2019- outscored 19-0 in the second half including letting the Texans convert 2/2 on 2 point conversions.

2020- give up 38 to the Chiefs

2021- give up 42 to the Chiefs

2022- give up 27 to the Bengals after letting them open the game with two straight TD's which basically has happened the last three times we've played the Bengals.

The run might not work on all teams, but wow did it work today! At LAST when the offense has success they stick with it instead of outsmarting themselves.

When other teams eventually play to stop the run and "dare Josh Allen to throw"... the Bills will oblige ha ha.

Cook played and was used exactly as some scouts were saying when he was drafted: unfair advantage. One can only dream but with Joe Brady plus Jones, Milano and Tre... just wow. I thought the Bills  were better then last year, and still think it.

There is going to be 100 sarcastic McD Threads this week and I am all for it.

Hell if of a win, #70 of his career and the players have been loud and clear what they think of their HC.

I tipped my hat to McDermott after the Dolphins beatdown.  And I'll do the same now. Beautiful gameplan.

On the Cook TD run the commentators pointed out 6 guys in the box.  Why the hell wouldn't we run it?  Running it on them all game why the hell was Dallas only playing 6 in the box?  Either way maybe we finally learned if they give you a light box, take it, and run it down their throats.  Want to mention Johnson played well spelling Cook also.

When it works that offensive game plan with motivated players is great.

Paired with a defense that then gets to play downhill an opponent is forced to throw (Edit: into that zone).

Getting all these elements to go this way is challenging.

I promised Simon I would let up on a certain poster.  But there will be people sad we didn’t win throwing the ball.

I think you are being dramatic.

we definitely have to figure the passing game out to win but when picking up 7-8 ypc, which is in line with a passing ypa, no one cares.

Some teams have been able to stop us running from a light box…Dallas very much not the case lol

Cmon now … that morning clown on WGR told us all that running backs just don’t matter

Someone here told me that today when I was talking about the 2019 titans 😂

Today’s result was a bit extreme.  I don’t think he wanted to rush James Cook 25 times.  But I always laughed when people criticized him for wanting a better running game.  This is why

If the barometer for McD to redeem himself doesn't include any postseason results you should really be evaluating priorities. It's crazy to me how drastically opinions change in literally a couples games. Our fan base can't see past the end of it's nose.

Dallas did what every team has done, they called our bluff. They said "we'll give you a light box even when you run it down our throat because eventually you'll stupidly throw the ball downfield and waste a down and that will end the drive." This was the first game in a long time that we called their bluff back at them. Hopefully we keep at it.

You really need to change your alias to FireMcD or FireAll.  Bonfire would also be suitable.

it's nice to have a competent o-coordinator. on the other hand, if he is competent for the rest of the year and again next year, we will have to start again from scratch.

I'd argue that competence in coaching is an expectation not a 'nice to have'.

I commented to a friend that, had Dorsey still been OC, despite Cook having the day he was, he probably would have glued him to the bench and watched helplessly as Micah Parsons wrecked sh!t all game.

We matched up well against Dallas. They're not a team to stop the run. Their division does not run. It's why Miami will get TOP and likely win. The Fins OL is not as good as ours but Tua needs quick passes. Dallas can stop that... But we beat a team today that we overmatched with scheme wise. Next week we play a team we don't match up against well when Herbert plays.
