I joined BBMB after the ESPN team forum threads shutdown. That place was ran like North Korea at the end and I'm not even exaggerating. 90% of the threads and posters wouldn't not even exist here at TBD. If you criticized or challenged anything about the FO, your thread was deleted and or you got a ban. 

 

Very happy to call this place home since the 2017 merge.

I've been here since 1998 and I can't imagine being anywhere else... TBD also had old boards which are gone forever, so it's not exclusive to the OBD boards! Since then we've lost some members... RIP njsue....

I posted on the old boards at a much higher frequency then I do here. It was a special place, they shut it down without warning to enact different social media initiates -  no archive. There was not much thought put into the shutdown which is very sad but they have one of the best social media teams of any NFL franchise so there is some good.

Actually, I think there was a lot of thought put into.   The Bills are all about two things:  winning on the football side, and making money on the business side.  The Bills were making more money on social media, and they figured out that the message board wasn't doing anything for them.  It wasn't driving business for them, at all.  It wasn't selling advertising.  Nothing.   And from time to time, some poster was unhappy and complained to the Bills about what he thought was mistreatment.   On top of that, they saw that if they imposed stricter rules (something the mods wanted), they would irritate more people.   So, they saw no upside to maintaining the board.   

 

It also didn't make sense to announce the shutdown in advance.   That would just engender a lot of complaining.   So, they decided the best thing to do was simply to pull the plug without notice.  One morning, it just wasn't there.

It was definitely more volatile over there. Maybe some of it was the drought and just nothing to be happy about but you had to be ready to roll up your sleeves after almost any opinion. Nobody was glossing over it. You were going to have to argue daily over things that (looking back) were much to do about nothing. That board enjoyed almost no success from a team standpoint. It was elbows up

I liked BBMB. I think the mods were less emotional over there. 

 

As long as you followed the rules they wouldnt bust your chops.

Board was better here before migration so I guess Mod decline is due to that.

Anyone remember Chris66?  He was a Pats fan who tried to torment us for many years on the old board, and I think I even saw him on this board for a few years.  Very passive/aggressive - would never overtly troll, and always said he was here for the good discussion, but always took shots at the Bills.

 

I always said he'd disappear as soon as we were good.

I’ve liked it here since BBMB went down. Sure you have the reactionary crowd on gameday but nearly all of my interactions have been pleasant. I think I joined the day it closed down or very shortly after. I can’t remember when I joined the BBMB but safe to say I was either in my late teens or early 20’s so hopefully people don’t remember me from there (I probably said some dumb stuff from time to time 🤣)

bills range, bills zone (i think range came first, and zone and TBD broke off of them, but it's hazy) really did get nuts!

 

the job johnson flutie wars lasted for years.  god we had an awful awful team for so long.

I think you have this wrong.  I was a mod on BBMB, and the Bills wouldn't give us authority to deal with the bad actors.  As a result, there were days when it was pretty chaotic, and there was a lot of misbehavior.   People said a lot of nasty stuff to each other.  

 

Moderating isn't easy, and the moderation here isn't perfect, but the mods here have authority and exercise it in ways that keep the place civil and keep the conversations going and on point.   You can tell the moderation here is good because (1) there's active discussion and (2) people aren't leaving.

Me too, over there I was known as "Flea".  I enjoyed those boards and actually miss them.  I preferred the less moderation, but that's me.  I am also not a fan of all the threads being merged.  Like some posters have said, you end up with oodles of pages that are hard to scroll through.  Then you get multiple people saying the same thing over and over and over because no one actually reads through the pages.

 

But like I said, that's just me.  I'm here now and it is what it is.

There was actually a 10+ page long thread a month or so ago about people saying they were leaving because of mod actions. I stuck up for the mods in that thread but there were definitely people upset about something or another.

 

I honestly think the moderating here is pretty darn good. My only concern with the mods is the mass-merging. They merge everything lol. Just last week a mod merged a guys post about a really cool Bills mural into a thread about jerseys. It is so odd and random haha.

Buffalo Range was THE message board back in the day. Thousands of active members, contests, ticket giveaways, etc. It was incredible.

 

Sal Cappaccio (Bills reporter) actually started on the Buffalo Range. He posted there for like a decade, then started doing mini-shows in his basement in Florida, then he got the members of the forum to petition WGR to hire him, and the rest is history.

 

But the owner of that place (Rick) was not a great guy sometimes and just ruined the place. Its a shell of what it once was. Two Bills Drive blows it out of the water now.

I'm a BBMB transplant. (Same username, same profile pic.) When it disappeared, I looked at several other message boards and liked this one the most, so I signed up. Since moving over here, I've found that TBD has a much better signal-to-noise ratio than BBMB.

TBD is the only message board/fan site I've ever frequented.  Lots of good posters seem to have made there way here from BBMB.

I think you guys also had a real tough time defending a franchise that had struggled for many years.

 

BBMB had inside connections that leaked sensative Bills intel. Myself personally, this is what brought the house down in my humble opinion.

Welcome! if you mean the billsdaily com stuff, I was there, but for me it was more an news article / summary venue than a true message board like this, so I don't miss it much, IMHO
