st pete gogolak
Pretty sure that historically, Washington was the most racist franchise in the NFL, aside from the Redskins nickname (racist owner George Preston Marshall, last team to integrate, etc.). I honesty believe a great nickname (although I admit WFT kind of grows on you) would be the Redtails to honor the WWII Tuskegee Airmen. It would be a way to make amends in a small way. 6 1
BigBuff423
I am not a fan of the Washington Football Team name, glad to see the team getting an actual name. I'll be interested to see what they've come up with, but I think it's time to turn the page. Good luck to them in the future! (Except for when they play the Bills).

zow2
I've heard rumors that the name "Red Wolves" is a strong candidate as well as "Commanders". JohnBonhamRocks
Redtails is cool, but did not hear that on the list of finalists WGR mentioned this morning. Red Hogs was one. Red Wolves is a fan favorite but out because of trademark issues. Then a bunch of DC/military names like Brigade, Commanders, Presidents, etc., and apparently the logo tease has 3 stars so it’ll likely be one of these.

If the recent rumors are true, it will be Commanders since the (Red)Wolves was eliminated due to trademark issues. Commanders is okay I suppose. They could have done a lot worse (and still might.) Yes, spoken to several, including a close friend of mine. They all agree that while the “Braves” & “Chiefs” monikers may have some gray areas to them, there’s no debate that the term “Redskins” is derogatory. It’s ok to correct certain mistakes and learn and grow as a society without shouting “cancel culture”. Try it sometime. 4
