Big Turk
Solid player, but fringe starter/depth player. I would be surprised if CB wasn't one of our first 2 picks.

My guess would be the Bills think they can improve the talent at the position for the same or more money. The value of the contract is good. 1
ndirish1978
Wow, they signed him for a bag of chips. I don't understand why we didn't offer him this same amount with the crap depth we have at CB

I dont like being pigeon-holed into having to pick for a specific position in Round 1, and I dont think Beane does either. Although maybe they think/know/realize that the best value at #25 will likely be a CB anyways.

gjv001
Apparently our front office and coaching staff didn't think very highly of Wallace, letting him walk for back-up CB money.
RussellDopeland
He was the weak link of this defense the last few years- and his mediocrity played an impactful role in two playoff defeats at KC. Pedestrian corner play combined with an impotent pass rush is an impending disaster in the making when you face an offense like the Chiefs. Wish him the best, but I'm glad he's gone. 1 2

Brandon
While I think the Bills really like Dane Jackson, if that contract value is correct, the Bills probably should have brought Wallace back themselves.
Logic
My hopes of a first round WR just took a major hit. For the Bills not to match the contract Wallace signed, they must feel confident they can upgrade at CB, and/or they must really like Dane Jackson. I expect a free agent signing or two at CB. No way Beane walks into draft night with this crying a need at CB.

atlbillsfan1975
For things this says- The fact they wouldn’t pay $4 mil a season says a lot to me about how Beane and McD value Wallace’s services. Think how much better Poyer and Hyde will look with another good CB playing CB2. Dane Jackson showed he can be as good as Wallace.
Ethan in Cleveland
Wow that is really low money. Bills must have been ready to move on no matter the cost. At this point not much in comp pick compensation for Wallace or Trubisky. CB in first round is a near certainty now.

bigduke6
gl Levi, u werent as terrible as some here made u out 2 be. sure hope theres a plan to replace him. Levi had a tough job as the opposite CB to Tre, he got alot of work thrown at him just because nobody really wanted to throw at Tre. Levi was a flag magnet, some his fault, most not. alot of phantom calls against him. he was a fine #2 for us.
wppete
That’s too bad, good luck to Levi… definitely we draft a CB in round 1 or 2 this year. 1
SCBills
GOOD This clearly shows that the FO did not truly want to retain Levi or Harry. Levi and Harry are great guys and were decent players for us. Alphadawg7
Levi is a lot better than a lot of the foolish takes on this board. He won’t be easy to just replace with a rookie. Id much rather sign a vet and then draft a guy early as well. 4
MPL
I thought Dane Jackson played well when White went down. That late 1st round draft spot is typically a great place to find a plug and play CB at a great value and with more speed than Wallace has. Turbo44
I wasn’t a fan of his (look at the games at the end of the season - teams were targeting him and not Dane) BUT for an UFA he’s been a huge overachiever. $4m per is really low if true. pick 25 CB pick 57 WR
Virgil
Great, so we have Jackson and TJ. That's it. I don't like letting him go if it's for 4 mil per. I don't like it at all. He knows our system and played well last season.

John Adams
Levi was always fighting for that starting job at CB2. Solid player but benefitted from Poyer, Hyde, Tre, Taron, Milano, Edmunds...a LOT of coverage help. He's replaceable but it's annoying to have a hole to fill. 1
Realist
Seems like front office thinks there is no drop off from Wallace to Dane. I'm sure there will be a free agent signing plus round 1 or 2 in the draft.
billsbackto81
Obviously they had no intention of keeping him unless it was for league minimum. How they let him walk for that contract is confusing. They really must of insulted him during negotiations if they made an offer at all. I wasn't his biggest supporter but would have gladly paid that for a scheme familiar team player. Good luck Levi. BADOLBILZ
That is right where I thought he'd be..........never bought the $8M aav talk........he's not that kind of athlete. I was hoping for Sidney Jones......a better athlete with more risk but more upside............ but he signed back with Seattle for 1 year $3.6M. Going back to Levi would have been the safe choice.........I think if it had been 1 year $4M they might have...........but they probably like Dane Jacksons' potential more and if Tre comes back their top 3 CB positions are manned. Then in the likely event that another higher RAS type CB lands with them in the draft then it's not inconceivable that Levi could have been a spare part. I expect they will still add a veteran but probably just a 1 year deal. CB and S are the two positions I trust them to develop.
