I meant for the rest of the season. I'll update the thread. Thanks

I said last year that Ford was a bust and everyone laughed,  it was a massive mistake taking Ford over Metcalf.  FORD=BUST and only reason why he is still on this team is because he was a second round pick.

It’s like with alligators.  Run in zig zags.

Better go for a straight line dash... Can you beat his 4.4 shuttle or 6.96 3-cone? He's on par with some of our most agile guys.

I'm also a short person and I think I'm pretty fast but I wouldn't want him to catch me....bet he's fast for his size

I think Williams was still an upgrade to Ford at guard - for now. We will see who they roll out next week.

I never hate on our players, don't really like that phrase, but Ford has been struggling mightily at RG and LG when he manned that position last season.

I want all out players to succeed, but have always had concerns with his foot speed and his ability to play over his base with good balance and leverage.

This past draft they really focused on OL players with above average athletic speed, foot work, and balance. Early indications on those prospects are positive.

Ford is a bust and people need to accept that he is not very good

I don’t think that having the Veteran RT line up next to the raw Rookie RT was an accident.

He should be able to keep Brown from making rookie mistakes and show him the inside info Vets pick up throughout the game.

As long as he’s not a liability, I’d like to keep Williams at RG until Brown gets some more game reps.

Agreed, Brown RT Williams RG was better combo even though Williams is much worse at G than T. Ford is so bad he's forcing other people to switch positions.

and they'll get better quickly now that they've got a little film on themselves playing in the new spot.

Kudos to McD for finally giving up on the Cody Ford forcefeed project.  He was a miss, lets move forward.

Two things are obvious. The coaches have lost faith in Cody Ford and like many of us, they think Williams' future is at G. Brown looked good today, but it was only 1 game. Hopefully he'll be great. I'm still not sold on Boettger,  but as depth, he's fine.

That’s the plan…the line played much better with Brown at RT and you’d think putting Feliciano in over Boettger might be a small upgrade too.  Williams should hopefully settle into RG

Boettger is a better run blocker than Feliciano and has been improving every year unlike Feliciano.

I’m cool with Brown staying at RT but I hope that doesn’t mean Williams stays at G. He’s simply not good playing inside.

He's going to be a dominant tackle. But we have both tackles signed long term.

I'd look to trade Williams asap and let Brown ball out.

You need 3 good OTs.  Trading away Williams, unless they get a great offer for him or someone like Tommy Doyle proves to be a good swing tackle, wouldn't be smart.  He's scheduled to make (just) $7.125M in each of the next 2 seasons.

I totally forgot he started at RG. As long as he's playing too at a high level there im fine with it. The line as a whole looked great ,really popped off the screen in the run game

That remains to be seen.  But as a RT, he's definitely worth keeping.

Brown looks like a very good OT.  His length and athleticism will give any edge rusher a problem.  He gets after people as a run blocker.  Gets to the second level with ease.  I dont know how you take him off the field.

I haven't studied film and I didn't watch the interior line during the game, but I like Brown at right tackle and Williams at right guard.   The way McDermott views it, he's going to play his five best linemen, and I think Brown has shown he's in the top five.   And I think that Williams actually will fit well at guard.   I think he gives the Bills more power at the position, which should help their zone blocking schemes.   Plus, the one thing that has bothered me about Williams at tackle is that he doesn't have that quick first step to the right to cut off the wide rusher.   Brown has it.   Inside, Williams is quick enough to slide right or left to help on the double teams either way.  The question is whether he can pull on the traps and get in position to make some of the seal blocks.

Ive not read the entire thread excuse me if this was mentioned. Should we all be using the Texans as the benchmark on his ability to play and start?... what about against better personnel on other teams?  Maybe maybe not.  There will be an NFL learning curve so is he ready for full time duty? It would be great if he excelled starting moving forward.  Im not sure its a given as some fans would suppose. Only McDermots opinion matters.

So Feliciano is benched too?

Sounds like it. Personally, I never noticed much of a difference between him and Boettger. Both were mediocre. At least Ike is younger and has a better chance to improve.
