A guy like Diggs is the missing piece. Beane tried the whole "don't need a #1" thing, it hasn't worked.

Beane and McDermott both do a lot of PC talk about their guys. They’ll never call them out in public.

But Beane looking into (if not actively pursuing) Antonio Brown this off-season showed everyone they actually are looking for that #1 Stud WR.

Any internet tough guys who jumped on @Alphadawg7 earlier this season want to man up and give him his props? Yes Zay made the opening roster, but analysis was on point and he only made it through 4 weeks and 1 play. Good riddance Zay. I hope you had the time of your life.

Give him props for what? He was wrong. How long of a grace period do you expect for “on the opening day roster?”

What the hell is this crap? Zay is a great guy who worked hard and did the best he could.

He’s definitely not a good football player. I don’t want lousy football players, period. Nice guy maybe. Bad receiver.

Good kid, worked hard, great locker room presence, was proud to be a Bill. I wish Zay nothing but the best with Oakland (unless he's playing the Bills, of course). I hope the change of scenery does him good and he goes on to have a long career.

...and now we get to look forward to seeing what Duke can do for the team! I think this is a good move for everyone (Zay, Duke, Foster, the fans, and hopefully the team).

And I think the 2021 5th is a smart move by Beane. Zay obviously wasn't worth a 2020 5th or higher to any other team right now. And in next year's draft, we already have two 5th round picks and three 6th round picks. So, rather than take say a 6th or 7th round pick for next year, get a higher pick in 2021 and start building capital for that draft. We know how Beane likes to have assets in each draft, so he can move around.

Go through the history, people have been sending Zay out to pasture since shortly after his first few flailing attempts at a catch.

While this may be true, I think he also genuinely believed it to an extent. But as much as I like Brown and Beasley, they don't command double teams. It's why Josh has struggled, when the defense can play man to man and send 5 or 6 rushers it creates a pressure situation with very tight windows to throw into on top of it.

Have to consider they traded up in the 2nd round to pick him, the return is garbage.

So, just out of curiosity, how long are you gonna keep sayin the same thing over and over again?  Asking for a friend...

Go Bills!!!

Honestly, I couldn't.  I didn't think Zay would see the field again here as long as Duke does well and Foster comes back from injury, but I thought we would keep him as depth.

But then I never saw us cutting both Murphy and McCoy either, and no question our RB room has been thinner than we'd like.

I hope Beane is planning to bring someone in, and I hope he's good.

I guess we should get used to it.  Good players who aren't needed get converted into draft picks.  Beane wants those picks.

A 5th for Zay is pretty good but in retrospect, the 5th is a terrible return on a player that the team traded up to get, bypassing JuJu Shuster Smith.  If McDermott made that call then damn....terrible waste of a draft pick

It's impossible to nail every draft pick... Even Patriots miss.  Itll happen... But draft time Zay was clearly the better prospect than JuJu. His senior bowl elevated his draft stock cause he was catching everything. He never dropped anything in college... Unfortunately that was not the case at the next level. Kind of strange to see a strength turn into a weakness. I think that drop against Carolina killed his confidence and he never regained it.

That probably won't get it done from what I'm hearing. Just FYI

I didn't jump on Alpha early in his initial prediction post, but he was WRONG. You make a bet/prediction and you stick to it. You don't fudge. Had he said "Zay won't make it to the midpoint of the season" he would have deserved props.

I did jump on him, and this is correct. Alpha was wrong. You only get props if you're right.

Dill holes. Zay doesn’t play with fire or passion. Buh- Bye.

Disagree. He hasn't played all that well, but his blocking has been absolutely excellent, and that doesn't happen without fire and passion.

But he and Allen just don't appear to have established a good connection, for whatever reason.

He's gonna pull a Sammy Watkins and start lighting ***** up.

2017: Played for Rams, best offense in football, and produced 593 yards the whole season.

2018: Played for Chiefs, best offense in football, and produced 519 yards the whole season.

Wouldn't exactly said he has been lighting it up.

Where are those now telling me Zay is good? And Duke Williams is bad?

Hillarous to read how many Raider fans think they got a steal and Zay is going to solve their passing woes.

I think we hold onto the pick and actually select someone with it.

Hopefully Zay learns but to me it is all mental will him to say.  Hope he fix it.

I have Watkins on my FF team. Great start. Crickets since.

My take is that Zay will have better soil to grow into a solid #2 in Oakland.  Here the offense was a revolving door at most every position, and he received poor coaching, and the offensive strategy was random.  While defenses didn't necessarily game plan to shut him down, he was considered as our #1.  He got most of the attention.  He was never able to pick up any momentum here.  Here, the OL, QB, and even RBs have been in transition.   Carr is a better QB right now than our guy.   I think he is, and will be, a better player than he was here.  Good luck Zay.  Go Bills!!

If things don’t work out for Zay in Oakland, I hope he doesn’t have a bad meltdown like he did (or worse) that time when he tried jumping out the hotel window

Well he is a lot closer to Los Angeles now, and will be even closer next year when in Vegas. Could be trouble.

Didn't we use 6 second round draft picks to move up and get Zay?  Flipping for a future 5th rounder is pretty disappointing.

I agree... The only issue is that all the other wrs passed him on the depth chart, and cutting loose is really all that is left. I wish him the best with Richie and co.

I guess Im kind of a "root for the laundry" kind of girl he's no longer a Bill I dont wish him harm but he's opposition now and leave it that....I will go on record that I think his head wasn't on totally straight in Buffalo and the Bills kept the right guy (Williams) higher upside..just my opinion.
