Based on the “unexpected” wording and what has been revealed — that she’s been recovering well in the last few days — I would hazard a guess at a heart issue or a slimmer possibly of a stroke.

She’ll share *if* she wants to at a time of her choosing, but the main thing is that she’s getting the best of care and will hopefully be back to rights soon.

I wouldn't want to speculate but that would be my guess also...perhaps a mini stroke

My two cents... public figures generally get ahead of this by giving a high level description of the issue rather than a vague statement about a serious problem and an ask for privacy.  In the current situation, you'll see people speculate on what the issue could be with no basis in fact.  You'll also see the press start poking around to try to figure out what's going wrong.  None of that would happen if they said something like "auto accident", "heart issue", etc.

Totally get the desire for privacy, but the consequence of that is human nature - people are gonna wonder what the problem is.  Better to just meet that head-on.

Regardless I wish the Pegula family the best!

Great, what the hell am I suppose to do with this then!

Hopefully she's already on the mend and the news of this was just their way of letting everyone know she's alright.

Get well Kim.

I'm sure you would hate to speculate as evidenced by how you couldn't even finish that sentence without adding to the pile.

I get that it’s only natural to want to know what’s going on, but the only real thing we can do is offer prayers and respect their privacy as requested.

Praying for a quick and full recovery.

The statement is very worrisome. They wouldn’t release this if she wasn’t in serious danger.

Like I said before, hopefully more along the lines of it was serious and she's starting, or already in, recovery.

This is what I said as well. You don't go to the trouble of making something public if it was getting appendix removed or something similar that you end up being hospitalized for but have very little chance of any type of fatal complications.

But at the same time hopefully it's not something that could be very serious (i.e. heart attack/stroke/anerysum/etc)

I dunno. She is a pretty public, high-profile figure that I'm sure has meetings and appearances scheduled. This is the way to explain all at once why she is canceling/missing appointments and get out ahead of any rumors.

I am sure they will release more details at the appropriate time, although it is a shame that there will be wild speculation as to what it is. Until then just hope for a full recovery and give them the privacy they requested.

I hope everything is ok... as others said, that statement sounded pretty serious.

Any info on what happened?  @john wawrow?

Nothing other than speculation, which would be unfair and unprofessional.

I can say is I'm hearing she is improving, which coincides with the statement, so that is promising.

First, good vibes for Kim!

Pure speculation, but this has been going on for a few days without an announcement per their statement. Serena received a wild card for Wimbledon today, wondering if they are trying to get something out to the public out ahead of Jessica pulling out of The Championship?

Really hoping she is on the mend back to her healthy self and Jessica's recent world ranking success was the reason to release something to the public before she officially pulled out of Wimbledon.  In a few days she is scheduled to play Rothesay as a warm up as well.

Hey John Wawrow, great story.  Thanks for the background information.

All of us on the board have experienced someone we love being sick - and many of us have experienced it being a sudden onset of a medical condition.

I pray for Kim's recovery, but also for Terry, Jessica, Kelly, Matt and Kim's stepchildren (Michael and Laura).  This has to be difficult even if it's, hopefully, a temporary scare.

Over the last few years, the Pegula's have become the "royal" family of Buffalo.  Its like our queen is ill and it makes me sad and sick.

I saw both of them at the Bandits game last week and she looked to be okay. So whatever it is sounded sudden. Prayers to them.

She just had her birthday so it could be she had some regular checkups that detected some serious condition that required treatment that had her in the ICU.

So we don't know if it was a sudden event or if she has some other condition.  It seems like she's on the road to recovering and certainly pray that is the case.

It may well be they know it’s serious but don’t yet know enough and/or surgery results. I know for me, hard to tell anyone what was wrong or prognosis until my results and prognosis were at least somewhat clear by ME!

“Boss, Having bad tummy ache” wasn’t a good status to my boss. “got my appendix removed” pretty damn crisp!

HIPPA laws preclude medical staff fro giving out any updates unless the patient other  designated health proxy say so. Doctors can lose their license for violating g that. When I had a stroke in 2014, they could only tell my mom my status (she was 2200 mikes away) and  two friends I designated them to tell before I had the stroke (they lived there).

I had a bp of 247/72 and had to be in the ER until about 10 PM waiting for a room in ICU. Had the stroke the next morning. Spent aboutt 5-7 days in ICU and then 2 weeks in regular ward and rehab before I flew back to Buffalo w/ my brother. Used a walker for  3 months. Now 8 years later fine except  geting dizzy if I look up a lot (like looking up in the tres in the forest).

Wow that is some crazy difference between your high and low, usually the bottom end is a lot higher if the top is too.

I have kidney disease and my BP can get up to 240/140 but ive brought it down with kidney cleaner and meds.

Glad you are recovered. I have a friend who had a stroke recently and the scenario is similar with unexpected medical situation, time in ICU, progress noted, etc. I’m thinking this is what Kim *may* be going through.

I only have had one kidney since I was 4 (1961) when it was removed because of a congenital  abnormality.  BP was fine until  when I had the strike and the docs told me the remaining one was down to 10% and I has=]d about a month or so before  it totally failing. Go to the nephrologist (in fact  Monday). My creatinine (a measure of kidney damage)was up to about 4 (6 is transplant or dialysis time) and it came backdown to 2 with BP meds(1 is normal most people)He said it will never be 1 but 2 is ok. It was up a hair  because of covid and nit getting the meds as much as I should, but now I am on Medicare and and taking meds religiously again,  so I will find if it is over on Monday.

One of the many pleasures of being a Bills fan is being a part of what has come to be called the Bills Mafia. One of our leaders is hurt, and as this thread shows, when one of us is hurting, we all are hurting. Get Well Soon, Kim.
