JetsFan20
It’s looking like MLB is going to have to cut their season by 60-70%. If that happens in the NFL how would you feel about it? Personally I think it’s a major stretch to crown a championship in that format. I would definitely eliminate the wild card and divisional rounds of the playoffs and have every team play extra games with the final four moving on.
RiotAct
would feel like there should be a big old asterisk next to the Super Bowl winner for that season.

Billznut
They played only 9 games in 1982, the strike shortened season. Ratings were still sky high and there is no asterisk next to the Redskins for winning the world championship that year. Id rather there were more than 6 games. I doubt it would ever be that short but who knows? It would only be for one year anyways. Not the end of the world.

Augie
Get back to us after 1,000 Jets fans share their opinions. I’d watch, but six games isn’t nearly enough to call a “season”. Playing 70% would be about 11 games, closer to being meaningful in terms of evaluating what you have with each team. Playing only 6 games would be 37.5% of a “real season”. Not enough to be meaningful. . Edited June 15, 2020 by Augie
Ethan in Cleveland
Must have at least 8 games to use the current playoff format. Anything else and the playoffs should include every team, maybe with a first round bye for division winners. Or a play in game for the 8 last place teams. GregPersons
I'd take it. Over no season? Why not? 6 games. All divisional. That'd be pretty cool, if you ask me. Especially this year with our roster and the rest of the division?? Let's do it. Bills are in prime position to succeed in that kind of situation, like the post lockout Sabres run in the 00s

Just time out and start up next year at that point. Also, you can’t really just take the raw % of games and prorate them equally. Baseball plays 162 games and the NFL plays 16. 3 hours ago, nedboy7 said: Why does a Jets fan keep posting nonsense on here. honestly he’s mostly asking just general football questions. I mean Baseball should of started at the end of March and goes till the end of October. So that's like a 5 month difference from when they start, so I'd be more worried if baseball doesn't ever manage to start not as much if their season is cut in half. machine gun kelly
There is too much $ to be lost so they won’t shorten to 6 games. I’ve been listening to their medical personnel and they are working out contingencies like regular rapid testing, but also temperature checks which is simple each time they enter the facilities. I can see players getting two week quarantined, but not whole teams. We might lose a couple of games, but not 10.

Matt_In_NH
At this point the NFL is planning to play 100% of its games. MLB is different given they play 161 games to begin with. One of the reasons I love the NFL is because the games ALL matter. In baseball that is not really the case. There are times a race comes down to one game but when you are at game 53 no one know or can predict if that one really matters in the end. Taking 60% away from MLB is easy, for the NFL it is now. I could see a 10 game season or something maybe.
eball
Well, since the MLB season was 60-70% too long anyway, that sounds about right for them. Minimal regular season I’d be “satisfied” with for the NFL is 10 games.
MikeSpeed
If those 6 games are all division games it would make sense. You determine who is the best in the division and start the playoffs. At least there would be structure.

Greg S
I remember the 1982 season was a strike shortened season. I believe it was 9 games. The Bills started out 2-0 then the strike hit. Finished 4-5 and missed the playoffs. No worries for this season. I expect 16 games and if I can't go to the games then I will watch on TV just like everyone else. nucci
The only way a full season is not played is if too many players get sick. There will be a loss of revenue with fewer fans but NFL makes most of their money from the TV Networks. Guessing viewership will actually increase as many can't wait for live sports.

Baseball teams probably have anywhere from 4 to 7 times the amount of fans attending over the course of a season. They stand to lose much more than the NFL with a fanless season. NFL won't have a reason to go to 6 games unless there is a major covid spread among the teams. Baseball owners will lose a lot every game played without fans, that's why they want a short season or probably no season at all.

I was a season ticket holder that year. I got a lot of money back on the games not played. The first game back against Miami was so bad, I wished I didn't have seasons. One week of practice, and the game was sloppy like little league, penalities were many on both teams. they were not ready to play, and the money was to important to keep the NFL from fleecing the fans with a sub par product. I still feel cheated today.

Bulldog
I wouldn't be thrilled with it -- I much prefer a full season (even if it is without fans in the seats). TigerJ
A huge disappointment. The rate negotiations are going between major league baseball and their union, they'll be lucky if they have a 2021 season.
ProcessYaDigg
all or nothing. I don't want to settle for anything less than 16 games. some teams start off hot and then cool off during the rest of the season. On the flip side, some teams start off cold and then they catch fire to finish a season strong to either make the playoffs or even make a deep run into the playoffs. This is what makes an entire season interesting and worth watching. If a season can not be played in it's entirety, then just cancel it.
JustWinPlease
Doesn't cutting MLB that much still leave them with 70-80 games? That's plenty enough for a season. 6 games for an NFL season just isn't enough.

T master
What ever this season brings i will more than likely only watch maybe 6 games if that only due to the fact that i liked watching football (for a few hours) to just watch football and forget about all the other crap going on in the world even if only for a little while . This year the crap that i watched football to forget about will be a huge part of the commentary through out most of the game given what has happened this yr but time will tell . 1 of 2 things will happen for me i either won't watch football at all and take up another hobby or a game could be on with the volume down, not out of any disrespect to any one or thing but just to watch football and not politics ! The NFL and certain other sports in general what ever it is i watch is my Calgon on the week ends you could say but this season i have a feeling will be more of a platform come game day so the escape route will be blocked and filled with all the things i try to leave behind for a few hrs on Sunday. After all Sunday is suppose to be a day of rest ?? ! So instead i will have to find another way to escape the noise of every day life, maybe i will go fishing or hunting or do what Richard Proenneke did ? which will make a lot of posters here happy !!
