Important thing to note is that BUFFALO signed a player away from a team like NEW ORLEANS who wanted him back.

Do we know this for certain? Obviously they didn't want him back THAT badly. These were also the same guys that wanted Byrd in a bad way. I mean Brees and Payton have been great but I don't recall NO having some standout track record with FA's.

Edmunds to Sam in 3-LB sets.

Funny, when I suggested that back in September a prominent member of this board told me that I was clueless and arrogant.

Interesting idea: Edmunds' height and speed sometimes coming off the edge could seemingly help the pass rush.

You choose to look at it one way, I choose another.  To each his own.

I was more interested in the statement that they wanted him back. It's not really an opinion. Was curious if there was any truth to this.

I was opining based upon an article that called Klein a "key piece to re-sign" for the Saints.

And the Panther obsession continues.  Apparently Sean can only evaluate his old players.

let's keep in mind our 3 starting WR's, Kroft,4/5's of our starting OL, Jordan Phillips, Kevin Johnson, etc all have Zero ties to Carolina.....

Or they know what they are getting for their $$$ so there’s zero gamble signing them. I mean another way to look at it is they are cherry picking players that helped Carolina get to the super bowl? Under the radar guys who contribute but are not household names.
I don’t see why signing players you’re already familiar with can be a bad thing

Am I the only who believes that Edmunds could be a monster if he was used as an edge rusher more?

I'm thinking it's a good chance now that Edmunds has some age and experience he will start to be moved around a lot more this year.

Maybe.   But probably not, IMO.

Edmunds plays the Luke Kuechly role in McD's scheme and I don't ever remember him moving Kuechly around like that for the Panthers.   I think Sean prioritizes simplicity and repeatability more than confusing the other team (as well as his own)...

I'd like to see him get after the QB more in blitz situations.

@Lurker is right about McDermott having steady play from his LBs but your point Turk is what I was thinking more about.

The 1st year Edmunds was learning, last year (especially the 2nd half of the season) he was getting some rope.

I don't think the scheme will change much but I expect more "options" with Edmunds this year.

I agree. He is so athletic for his size it would be a shame not to use it.

No disrespect to Lorenzo Alexander but I believe AJ Klein is an upgrade at this point. Should help us against the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans of the league. He should be a good starter for us. Could probably play inside if Edmunds got injured. Good run stuffer, decent athleticism to the point where I don’t think he’d be a huge liability in coverage. Solid signing.
