Chaos
The range from youngest to oldest average roster age is pretty narrow in the NFL. But Bills fans over the years have grown accustomed to the idea that the Bills are young. All of sudden we are grandpas. Key players like hyde poyer miller are pretty old. And they all have mileage. When you average it out among the AFC elite the Bills are the grandpas, the chiefs are the dads, and the Bengals are the kids. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/cap/ Not sure it matters. But something I noticed. 1 1

Doesn’t seem to much of a concern to Me it’s all about composition of the number. a full year across 80 guys could be all your starters on average 4 years older, and depth about the same age for instance. Or like 8-10 starters that are 8-10 years older. or it could be most guys just 1 year older As a stand alone it’s only of minor concern but a full year across a decent sized population in a tightly packed age group could certainly become noteworthy as you break it down. Allen2D̶i̶g̶g̶s̶TBD
I think this is a result of getting a lot of veteran free agents to sign with us on cheap contracts in order to win a ring. Late round picks and UDFA's have a tough time making the roster. Not a bad thing in my opinion. Edited May 3, 2023 by Allen2Diggs
MrEpsYtown
Von Poyer and Hyde skew that number alone. Plus Murray if he was counted in this. The rest of the roster are in their mid to later 20s pretty much.

MPL
Yeah but the Jets are the second oldest and haven’t you heard? they’re going to win the Super Bowl this year… AFC East — the hardest division in football or the geriatric ward?

Ed_Formerly_of_Roch
I just looked up Reid Ferguson, he's 29. I wonder if you just took out one player like him how much would that lower the average age? As close as the lowest to the highest is, a little over a year total, really not worrying all that much about it.

Don Otreply
I’m thinking that something around a year is nuthin to be concerned with, now if those Bills players were on average, say my age, with my medical history…, now that would be something that would likely frighten the entire fan base, just sayin, GO BILLS!!! But something I noticed. Chaos........you continue to come up with some contrived premises in the rush to share "found info" without perspective. At no point since McBeane arrived in town have the Bills fielded a young roster by league standards. They've consistently had one of the very oldest rosters each season at the start of seasons. Phillyvoice.com tracks this every year. Takes 5 seconds to search it. 2017 3rd oldest. 2018 5th oldest. 2019 7th oldest. 2020 10th oldest. 2021 6th oldest. 2022 6th oldest. They have averaged being the 6th oldest team in the NFL every year since McD arrived. Appreciate the enthusiasm but c'mon........this was an easy look-up.
Boatdrinks
I haven’t thought of the Bills as “young” in awhile - probably since Josh’s second year or so. I’d guess most Bills fans don’t either. Looks like they have a good mix right now, and they’re still firmly in a Super Bowl window.
Chandler#81
Poppycock and Bolderdash! its only because we just added gramps to the RB room. Otherwise, we’re among the younger teams in the League. Gotdam whippersnappers!
