This seems like an odd move.  I wonder if they're not happy with Haack.

Left footed punters are the cats pajamas now in the NFL...

The spin of the ball is supposedly much harder to track and catch by returners...and since there are so few, they almost never get to see one other than in live game action, so they can't really practice it.

Not that odd...just another way the team is looking to potentially get an edge even if it's ever so slight.

Haack headed to Covid list too?

No, but it's good insurance in case it pops up on Sunday.  Haack and Bass hang out together outside of the stadium.  Hopefully they knock that off for the next little while.  If one gets COVID, then the other might be a good bet for it, too.  Time to lock things down and focus on football and nothing else.

BUt, but, but Haack has such good warm hands.

Browns waive punter Jamie Gillan, give job to Dustin Colquitt

https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/sports/pro/browns/2021/12/22/cleveland-browns-go-punter-dustin-colquitt-waive-jamie-gillan-afc-north-playoffs/8991798002/

Quote

Gillan was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list after testing positive on Dec. 9 and the Browns signed Colquitt to take over on Dec. 10. Gillan was waived off the list Wednesday, although he had cleared protocols.

At least punters do not usually need to worry about being tackled by hair like some WRs do.

It's just COVID insurance; they might do this with a bunch more positions too.

The league is going to be heavily rattled by COVID in the next several weeks.

It never ceases to amaze me how much importance this franchise puts on ST and players that only fit that mold.

If they only had the same mindset with positions that actually mattered (i.e. OL/DL) then maybe we'd actually have a chance of going somewhere this year and beyond.

I like the cut of your jib.  There are not a plot of posters here who think like you.

McDermott's obsession with things that don't matter is hilarious--but also embarrassing.

The funny thing is, he is allowed to get away with it.

I made a joke a few years ago that he would take a defensive tackle with our first pick in the draft...and he actually did.

Does he have any experience as an interior lineman?

Or Left Tackle?

It never ceases to amaze me how you can find a way to cry about ANYTHING.  Bills sign a punter to the PS in the midst of a covid explosion——— see, this is why the Bills suck.

Since 2000-2017 Belichick has had left footed punters. Can't say it's won them their SuperBowls, but he's been doing it for a long time.
