gonzo1105
The offense is already elite. Would it possibly take it to Chiefs level, probably. Well he prob goes the latest at 10. We’re talking multiple high picks to get him

NoSaint
Not racing to trade up for a TE. both a second tier position for impact as well as a steep learning curve. Rather spend a little extra on a good vet

Just Joshin'
10 is worse casr for him, most likely sooner. So 2 issues: the cost to trade-up would be multiple ones and the positional value does not warrant. I expect he will be a very good pro but such a move will hurt the team in the long run.
Augie
NO, you don’t pay the cost to move up. WAY too expensive. I’m not big on TE’s going high, but this guy is very different. The only TE I can remember getting excited about. As great as he would be, he will go way too high for the value, and we need a lot of other things.

NeverOutNick
My gut says Pitts is not getting past pick 5 so we don’t have a shot outside mortgaging a lot of our future (something like this year and next years 1st and 2nds at a minimum)...if he actually fell into the 10 range I’d 100% give it a shot because he really is an amazingly special talent that gives our offense even more juice. P Riv
The offense will be elite when we can run when we want to, run when we need to, and pass at any time with multiple threats. We need an elite RB and and elite TE. Right now, we don't have either. If we want to win a SB, we need to get there (elite).
billybrew1
I think trading for Ertz plus drafting another WR like Kadarius Toney makes us elite. Assuming Ertz helps both run and pass. Assuming the line is better with more time together. Assuming the line is better with our four (3 or 4?) upgrades with the minimum being our LG position plays better this year. Ertz will help so much in the pass, plus help Dawson (and the young TEs). Toney gives us incredible quickness and speed. He gives us serious depth for when injuries hit (and they are going to hit and then we will be so happy to have Toney). And perhaps one of the defining traits of an elite offense is having elite depth. Yes, it is. I think the run game is going to be better with Allen another year older and everyone in the offense, another year together. Both main RBs another year together. Hopefully, the new back is a quick study, he should be as he is vet playing multiple offenses. I cant stress enough what an advantage it is that we kept together, Daboll and Allen, all the coaches and most of the players. It is HUGE! I think the goal should be to create a truly elite offense and to add those two to do it. At the very least, Ertz and drafting a WR by the fifth round. I'd be OK with Eskridge who might be there in the third. Ertz + Eskridge: I'd be happy with that. Dawson Knox, Matt Breida, Hollister, McKenzie, Gabriel Davis, Eskridge, Singletary..... All resting Diggs, Beasley, Sanders, Ertz and Moss regularly.... Thats, imho, what you need to last 20-21 games in a row to win that Super Bowl. Then, our first two picks (and the rest of the draft for that matter) could be defense: hitting DE/DT or CB with the first two picks and try to hit gold at the position we miss with the rest of the picks..... Everything, to me, looks very doable except for defensive end where you need a very, very rare athlete with toughness, brains and dedication to dominate. My thinking is that the best way to do that may be to try and get a vet before the trade-deadline.... You know, get Ertz, draft the DT, CB and WR with our higher picks and then add that vet that takes us to the promised land. Finally win that SB! Thats how you do it. Thats how you win a Super Bowl. We can keep pushing monies into the future as long as we are a contender and then pay for it and have a reload year. Allen will still be young enough to rebuild. We have a losing season, eat all that cap monie and get back under. Get compensatory picks, higher picks from the losing season and reload the following year. Hopefully, we do the right thing and actually build a SB team this year. Win that SB. Maybe we can win another? Spend that dough, Mr. and Mrs. Pegula! Ayjent
Kyle Pitts would be an ideal addition to this offense but his hype is unreal. I watched him over the yrs at UF and he is special, but he is a one dimensional TE - he is basically a WR with unreal size. I’m also not sure how well this offense utilizes the TE position although you probably would modify with a talent like that. Against a physical secondary he would shake free and give Josh a huge target, but there is no way the Bills trade up to get him bc the Panthers already traded for a bust QB (Trubisky has at least had success) and Beane was asleep at the wheel on that one. JK. if the Bills were looking for another WR from UF - Grimes is the guy that will likely see more success than he had in college in the pros. He has a big frame and goes after the ball well on 50/50s. Probably a late round pick. Good speed and athleticism for being 6’4” and in the right situation like Buffalo could really develop. I’ll start with - couldn’t this have been part of at least 2-3 other threads about getting Pitts - like the dumb trading with Atlanta at #4 thread - it surely did not need an additional lamp thread on its own. As stated in other threads: The Bills offense was elite last year and TEs rarely transition to the NFL and make any difference in year 1 or even year 2 - especially highly targeted TE in the top 10. They typically reach JAG level by year 3 after being sub-par for years 1-2. This coaching staff rarely use rookies to a big extent because of analytics suggesting their drop off after 8-9 games - so Bills rookies especially have little to no impact until the second half the season when they start to get limited playing time if they earn it. I doubt Pitts sees the field more than 3-4 plays a game until half way through - where if he earns it - maybe that doubles. I don’t think he sees enough plays to be a difference maker year 1. The Bills offense and Josh Allen have been a WR driven team and we have 4 strong WRs to spread teams out. I am not sure adding Pitts changes that meaning Pitts fills the roll Knox played - H back blocking out of the backfield to provide time and dump off route - which is not the strength and usage you want from Pitts. Cost would be stupid to go get a TE. They bust at a high rate, have a low transition rate to NFL ball, the top tight ends in the league were all later round picks and even UDFAs - there isn’t a TE from top of the first round that is not grouped in with the rest of the average TEs and if you figure you are most likely moving into the top 5 and definitely top 10 - you are giving up #1 and #2 picks (and more) in the next several drafts - plus potentially other young players that teams may covet. in the end I doubt Pitts helps the team mostly because of what you give up and the slow transition. He appears elite, but by the time he is helping your offense - you are getting hurt by the lack of talent created in the lost picks and players. Hard No. Edited April 10, 2021 by Rochesterfan

JMF2006
We need a go fund me to get Knox a case of stikkum I think he could be a Travis K type TE if he had a better catching to targets ratio. Orlando Tim
We are a top offense already and the only thing that makes us one of the all time greats is a great RB. machine gun kelly
This kind of like could Ali beat Marciano in his prime? It’s a non starter. We don’t have the capital to get there so why discuss it? Hey if we have Ray Lewis, the original LT, and Jim Brown in his prime would we win. thats bar stool talk that will never happen. My short answer is yes we already had the #2-3 offense in the league depending on the metric, and sure Litts could take us over the top, but it’s not happening. Sucks as I’d love a most likely elit TE, but I’d love to be 20 years younger, win the powerball and drinking margheritas in the Fiji Islands. Not happening.
