bills6969
Allen must’ve had at least 6 or 7 designed QB runs today. This is asinine. You don’t need your franchise QB taking big hits on stupid QB sneaks. We saw what happened to Moss. Guys jumping on top of you, you can easily snap your leg, tear ligament, get concussed. So stupid to call these plays unless we are in deep desperation mode. You don’t see KC letting Mahomes run free and take those hits. 3 2
BuffBillsForLife
This, we should never be running them outside of the opponent's 10 yard line.
TonyBeets
Yup, I think it's been said about 100 times the last half hour alone here on TBD. Just stop the designed runs.
bigduke6
i dont disagree, mainly due to possible injury, but our running game was non existent and the line wasnt holding up well in pass protect either. little curious y we didnt use any type of screen game to slow down their pass rush tho instead of the QB runs. Bronxbomber21
That 3rd and 2 QB sweep NEVER works throw the ball and after that Singletary 1st down run it was set up for a rb screen with the house coming

Malazan
I don't think they need to stop, but calling two designed runs back to back is asinine and overall they were called way too often. The two Moss runs back to back was stupid as well.

You protect him in the regular season but now is the time to let all the dogs out. I didn't love all of it within the context of this particular game, but not because I was worried about Allen getting hurt
Yard Monkey
Indy has a really good run defense. Called runs were one of the key advantages Buffalo has. Go with all advantages in the playoffs
Nextmanup
They didn't work well today, but I disagree. Josh running is one of the most dangerous components of the offense, and there is really no data to support the assertion that a QB running is more likely to be hurt.
Baba Booey
I thought Daboll didn’t have a very good game today. The designed QB runs were awful!!! At one point he call two in a row. He hasn’t done it all year. Why now???

somnus00
I think Diggs and Beasley are both gutting it out on the field. They're playing hurt. That's why the roster moves with Duke, and Stills. And this might be why Josh was running so much out there. Not saying I agree. I was just as pissed off as the rest of you.
djp14150
I don’t have issue with Josh running such as 1 surprise keeper on passing doen 2 roll out run 3 short yardage plays like near end zone or short yardage. 4 RPO and option plays based on defense. in the defense I think they saw something and wanted to exploit it
Johnny Hammersticks
I have to agree. The play calling in the first half, for the most part, was really bad. Too much hero ball by Allen.
MJS
Pull out all the stops for playoff games. Some of Allen's runs were critical. I do think they went to the well a couple of times too many, though. But I have never had issue with Allen running. It is part of his game. Sammy Watkins' Rib
Especially the QB sweeps. I don't mind sprinkling in the empty set QB draws but I hate those damn sweeps. I prefer to see Allen run on boken passing plays. Pick up the easy 4-6 yards on 2nd and 10 and don't get hit.

boater
Memo to the thread: If you didn't notice, we were in desperation mode. We won in the closing seconds, defeating a hail mary. GunnerBill
There were too many today for sure. My general view is to differentiate between the QB sweep (which needs to go) and the QB draw, which when used correctly is an effective weapon. 5 minutes ago, Buffalo Boy said: Said this in the other thread. I thought those, more than the running back screens, were the play. The Colts were crowding the middle of the line. The receiver screens attacking the edges were the play IMO.
Straight Hucklebuck
Just show more conviction. If you want to run it Daboll, line up and give the ball to Singletary. Allen has the nose for the end zone, but I agree with others, the Bills are best running 4-wides and gunning and exposing Allen to hits and fumbles is not smart in the Playoffs, this isn’t Denver. When they got away from that the offense stalled out.

DuckyBoys
They need to figure out how to run more effectively with the backs in general Find a rb that can get you 1 yard on 2nd or 3rd and 1 Its amazing just how poor they have been this year at converting those

The difference is KC has an actual RB to hand the ball off to who can reliably gain yards. Not very sure we have anything close to that. I do wonder what their plans are for next season to fix this? Are our lineman just real good at pass blocking, but not good at run blocking. Tough at least 3 of our starters were hear last year and did a decent job at it. I sometimes wonder could it be we run so infrequently that mentally our RB's just aren't mentally ready when they are called on? Not in anyway a good excuse, but often a big difference between an acceptable and reality.

Logic
No, they don't. Until the Bills prove they can actually run the ball with their running backs, Allen is about all they've got. Besides, you don't just consciously choose NOT TO USE a weapon as lethal as Allen's running ability.
