Is it time to admit Ryan Tannehill is pretty good?

There was lots of talk of this dude being a one hit wonder last season in Ten. Lots of laughing at his contract. He picked us apart last night and basically played error free football, especially on third down. It took some perfectly defended passes to get them off the field.

For those keeping score, Tanny is 11-3 as a starter in the regular season in Tenn since taking over with 36 total TDs to 7 INTs.

We lost to a good QB on a playoff team that made the Ravens look like chumps. That’s okay.

He's a better version of Trent Dilfer. Which is to say he's excellent in what he does (play action football, accurate when clean, where he can show off a strong, accurate arm, plus athlete so a threat to run), and is now smart enough to know what situations to avoid.

You wouldn't ask him to carry the offense like they did in Miami, but you give him a pretty good OLine and strong running game, he can get you a SB.

Even with an off day, Allen was excellent on 3rd downs too.

The difference between the two last night was two turnovers that lead to us handing them TD's by the field position we gave them.

Andre Roberts had a HORRIBLE night last night.

We didn’t just lose. We were embarrassed. It wasn’t even close. We were out coached and literally bullied on the field.

I can handle losing a close game to a really good team. What happened last night is far worse.

We played poorly, coached poorly and were not ready right from the opening kickoff it was apparent. The team looked like they expected to walk in and just get an easy win.  This rarely happens with this team and they tend to bounce back under McD fairly well. I wouldn't put much stock in it.

I agree with Greg Cosell's take on Tannehill. He has always been an excellent thrower of the football. He just needs things well defined for him. He needs his reads defined, and he needs the structure to be simple and effective. He isn't going to beat you with his mind. But he can make all the throws and he is accurate. He is also mobile.

Because of the lack of the mental aspects of the game, he is never going to be an elite QB. But he has always been decent and he is in a system now that allows him to flourish.

the guy has made most of his second chance; has a great head coach and a solid yet not spectacular (other than Clowney and Henry) squad around him

He has matured since the Miami days into possible all-pro but with Henry they are not pass happy... showed some running capability last nite as well.

He's also filthy rich as a young man and has a smoke show wife....

Tannehill was always good.  Saddled with a Poor OL and Adam Gase can kill a QB.  Ask Sam Darnold.

Out again this week per the NY Post. Flacco starts vs the Fish. I wonder if he will play vs the Bills.

I love that he continued to play with a sprained AC joint in his shoulder.  Oh and they cut their best weapon on offense (that they had no idea how to use).  What a dumpster fire of a team.

Ravens game was a lot like this game.  Turnovers (they had a few turnovers on downs as well) that lead to shorter fields.  Tenn had 1 long drive against them that was pretty much the game.

He's a good game manager, not sure I'd want to count on him with under 3 minutes on the clock and down by 5. The Bills gifted him points last night with short field position, penalties, questionable calls by the refs etc. We deserved to lose but wouldn't say I'd give Tannehill most of the credit.

Asked this in the post game thread.... did the Bills even touch Tannehill all night??

Titans offensive line completely manhandled the Bills upfront. It was awful to see.

They took a roughing the passer call so yes, at least once he was touched.  Someone got to him on a third down and forced a crappy throw too.

Based on what I have seen, Tannehill is a good, starting-caliber NFL QB.  He was pretty bad with the Dolphins, but he was with Adam Gase and on a bad team.  He had occasional good games, but wasn't good overall and that's why the Fins let him walk.  Since getting the opportunity with the Titans, he has played well and played a lot of winning football.  He doesn't the the high ceiling of a guy like Allen, but he can be a very effective NFL starter, and certainly was last night.  And, to be clear, I am not a fan of the guy, although I am fond of his wife.

Never underestimate the power of escaping Adam Gase. This could be the greatest blessing in disguise for Darnold if and when it happens.

He's not good. He's in the best situation a player of his limited ability can be in. Look at his stats against good teams last year.

Also, the way he's always smiling like an idiot before he's snapped the ball really annoys me.

you’re just figuring that out?

If you can beat Tom Brady and Belicheat you have to be good.

I’ve admitted it for a few years. He has all the tools and throws a nice ball.  Not a mvp type qB, but might good enough to win it all in the right situation

It's nice to be able to hand the ball off to an elite 6'3", 250lb running back as well. Not taking away from what Tannehill has done, but it goes along with "the right situation" theme. AJ Brown is a grown man at WR also.

Most QBs need at least one good Wr.

Henry helps.

He’s a good fit there. He’s played well
