  1. On weight of the entire season and playoffs, he was the best QB in the league this past season
  2. Gabe filled the role exactly as you’d want him to. The problem was that when John brown left, all he had was Diggs as 2nd deep threat, and the bills lacked a true a slot weapon when they tried to fill Cole Beasleys role with Isiah McKenzie. So the Bills became a bit stagnant in route concepts, and having a rookie OC didn’t help either. Last half of last season, when it because apparent that Diggs had lost a bit of his top end speed (he’s still got elite quickness and acceleration), Davis was the lone deep threat on the roster. He was never good enough to be a guy who’s gonna beat a corner and over the top safety help at the same time. He’s not that kind of burner. With Curtis Samuel in as a secondary deep threat along with being intermediate and underneath, and a plethora of true intermediate/middle route runners, then someone exactly like Davis is what the bills need to take this offense to the next level - which is an elite offense. Ladd McKonkey, Adonai Mitchell, Xavier Worthy, Leagette…some real options in this draft of dudes who can win deep. The reach pick would be Rome Odunze, who to me is the souped up version of Gabe Davis
  3. Where are you getting that number? Diggs has widely been consider a top 5 WR since coming to Buffalo
  4. Kinda nuts Sweat dropped that far The Bills can max out at what, upper teens? That’s kind of an odd ball spot. Maybe Rome Odunze slips that far?
  5. Think you’re hugely undervaluing Diggs here. Safeties. Both of them. Neither up to the standard that id like anyways. But I’m sure McDermott can make it work
  6. Jefferson was the 22nd pick of the draft. the Vikings purely got lucky
  7. For example, the Seahawks have DK Mercalf in his final yea of a 3 year extension (after this season). He needs to get extended again. If the Bills offered a 2nd (after this season for next years draft), the Hawks probably take it because not only do they get a pick, but they get out of having to pay DK. Meanwhile the Bills would have a prime Deep threat for 3-4 more years - at a premium price that’s completely worth it
  8. How do you think the Bills got Diggs? There’s enough GMs out there who think you can always find WR1s in the first round, that they don’t wanna pay their current WRs. I still think stud WRs are well worth paying, and I think you can find them in the trade market and draft.
  9. If he’s settled on Edwards & Rapp being our starters (which, to be clear, terrifies me) then he doesn’t have much FA business left Beane is killing it The problem with DT is that we have a single legit pass rusher from the interior in Oliver and we really need someone who can do that behind him. If Jer’zahn Newton is there when the bills are picking in the first I’d hope they seriously consider him
  10. let’s see what happens in the draft. I know people are hell bent about a WR in the first but there’s a ton of depth there…we might stumble on a pass rushing 3T or DE with a mid 1st round grade.
  11. Not for nothing: https://www.pennlive.com/pennstatefootball/2013/03/penn_state_football_who_is_aus.html “Penn State defensive tackle Austin Johnson is a hot name during the second week of the Nittany Lions' spring practice. He's emerged as a candidate to start alongside senior DaQuan Jones on the interior of Penn State's defensive line.”
  12. More about pressure rate and forcing offenses to scheme around him, and opening things up for the rest of the DL
  13. Chop is gonna be an elite Pass Rush specialist in this league not long after the draft, and in fact profiles somewhat as Von. There's more than enough speed in this draft to get one in Rd1 or RD2. But if there's a next level talent like Chop available at 29 they take him no questions.
  14. I didn't say that? How did you quote me on that?
  15. Think about it this way. Last season the Bills offense was actually relatively easy to defend from a schematic POV, because you only had to defend 30 yards of dirt at most regardless of down and distance. Without even an average deep threat else where, Gabe Davis struggled bigtime as the sole threat downfield, and defenses didn't really adjust a thing. They set either 2 or 1 safety 20 yards down field, one of them went deep, and everyone else sank down. Diggs wasn't that effective of a deep threat, and defenses felt they could run with him past 10-15 yards. With the addition of Samuel, you inject pure speed with addition of being a real football player. It doesn't matter where he lines up, you can attack those safeties from inside or outside. But Samuel will only be PART of that solve. The other part? Someone like Ladd McConkey who's the other deep threat. It allows for versatility. If you're on 1st and 10 or 2nd and medium, you have different packages that can make use of 1 or both deep guys, and you can use that short to intermediate offense that Allen proved he can run this past season. Defenses starting to squat? Well put in both speed guys, add in Diggs and Kincaid to the underneath, and you're either creating deeper mismatches, or forcing zones and YAC openings in the middle and short. This is all about deployment of weapons. Bills can attack any down and distance and create matchups they like
  16. Project what he can be with Josh Allen and Joe Brady
  17. Davis has been criminally underrated around here. He was literally the only deep threat the Bills had. What were people expecting?
  18. Obviously dudes like McDuffie and Sneed - both excellent physical man corners, are gonna win their fair share of matchups against the Bills mighty mights, but the fact of the matter is that they're fast enough that safeties are still gonna check that matchup and cheat just a bit, and then you have an elite route runner like Diggs now coming off the LOS.
  19. Samuel had a TON of targets coming out of the back field. You think it's easier to catch a target coming out of the backfield, running screens, slants, etc or almost exclusive running skinny posts, fly routes, corners, and other deep routes? He can play both. This is the modern NFL you don't need a super physical guy out there, bunch of ways to win off the snap even when lined up on the LOS
  20. That's a good one but McConkey play the outside more naturally - and would be an excellent late RD1 pick up
  21. Very misleading as they've had two very different roles
  22. He was a Gadget player at Ohio State, a better version of Isiah McKenzie, so that's not at all what he was supposed to be. He started playing more on the outside in the NFL, but the real problem was this, here are his QBs: Cam Newton (Healthy) Cam Newton/Kyle Allen/Taylor Heinicke - avg 12.5 per reception Kyle Allen/Cam Newton (broken)/Will Grier Teddy Bridgewater/PJWalker Alex Smith/Dwayne Haskins/Kyle Allen Taylor Heinicke/carson wentz/sam howell sam howell Who his QB will be in Buffalo Josh Allen
  23. For those who have questions about Samuel playing the outside, note this from 2018 https://www.pff.com/news/pro-panthers-curtis-samuel-developing-into-a-quality-option-at-outside-wide-receiver And then also take a look at his 2020 season and who happened to be his OC That offense had DJ Moore and CMC so those are decent for 3rd banana
  24. This is an elite specialization pick up from Beane. This is PERFECTION. Y'all realize what this going to do for Diggs and whomever the Bills pick in the draft to replace Gabe? Now the Bills can threaten the safeties in multiple ways to open up the intermediate and short, or even isolate corners and safeties to make deep routes more dangerous
