If Hughes and Lawson AREN'T on their way out....................

I guess the Bills plan is have 20 DE's this year.

Aren't they supposedly moving Alexander back to an exclusive pass rushing role? If so, it gets really complicated then.

Yes, but Alexander won't be an every down player.

If we can avoid drafting a DE this year that's good, since it is not a strong position in the draft.

DT & LB is what we should be drafting.

20?!? They barely have 4. Again, it's tough for Bills fans to deal with more than 1 nice thing.

So apparently I heard from a Redskins fan that he was an 3-4 OLB his first two years and was labeled a bust. After that they took away his starting spot and moved him to a situational pass rusher as a 3-4 DE. That's was his 9 sack season. So it sounds like he had issues in the 3-4 and going to the 4-3 he can really fit in nicely.

Agreed. Mcdermott was rotating a ton of guys last year. Its how he roles. It moght be nice to have someone other than cap capi rushing in a pivotal playoff game.

Being in DC area I think this is a great signing..player out to prove himself, short 3 year deal and from what I remember this guy had a high motor when healthy..Kinda looks a lil like McDermott's bigger younger brother..love these FA signings so far

Tampa wanted him. They need a DE. 12 and Lawson for 7

I like this idea...  I think Lawson still has some potential, but creeping up a few more spots for that QB would be more beneficial than Lawson's potential.

Ugh. I'm not big on him. Reminds me of a Kelsay type. Plus coming off two big injuries. He's basically another Shaq Lawson. But it gives us depth and a rotation so there's that

Why does he remind you of Kelsay?  They are not similar players at all.  Same question for Shaq.

You guys remember all the times Kelsay was labeled a physical freak?

smh...

I texted my friend who has season tickets for the redskins.

"hell fvcking yes that's a good deal. I'm pissed we let him walk. Ya'll got a great young LB who's only getting better every year. Deal won't look cheap in year 3."

His opinion carries a lot more weight to me than the other washington fans (I live in DC area) not only because of the season tickets but he watches the all-22 (even after losses) and follows them much closer than anyone else I know. He's definitely a homer though, so might be higher on some guys than others.

I think we are going with a heavy rotation on the DL this year. We will add another couple of DT's as well via the draft or from other team's cuts. We now have Hughes, Lawson, Yarbrough, Alexander, Odi, and Murphy all for rotation @ DE. Once they fill out the interior then we will be shuffling guys like a dealer in LV. It will serve to keep everyone fresh

We're not dumping Shaq. He's on a cheap rookie contract, would be stupid to give up depth that is cheap.

Just like Ragland?  We have too many DE's now.  Someone's going to go and I bet it is Lawson.

Caucasian DE

Well so isn't Aaron Schoebel. But i see Chris Kelsay too not in terms of style of play but body type. Both extremely tall DE both over 6'4, both play around 260 pounds, and most importantly they both seem to have that freakish arm span

30 mil for a guy coming off an ACL Injury?

Excuse my ignorance cause I’m not very familiar with him, but isn’t that way overpaid?

It's 3 years 21 Million.  I agree for what he has done it seems a lot at 21 million.

I will wait for guaranteed money and terms.

Seems to me he has a lot of upside IF he can stay healthy.

If the contract means Bill's can get out of it easily next year then I think it's worth the risk.

What is your view on him Bandit. I remember quite liking him at Stanford and I think I was high on him before the Network talking head types caught up to him, but I have lost sight of him a bit in the league. Have you seen much of him?

Why do so many of you want Hughes gone? He’s great.

I don’t get it either. He’s proven very effective when he’s not the only one to fear.  He gets after it.  Big Hughes fan here.  Trading him just makes us worse.  We need 2 effective edge pass rushers.  If The Murph is as advertised, we’re good along the DL. That was quick.

Great Work Beane. Huge holes along the DL and they’re fixed in less than a day. Now fill 2 SLB, MLB and a nickel to round out the starting 11 on D  Our DEs should be set with Hughes, murph, Shaq, Davis, Yarbrough and Odi.  If Odi can show he can be a contributor I could see them moving Shaq.  I’d prefer to keep him and see how he develops.  He has to be miffed as a former 1st rd pick being replaced after 1 year as starter. We could use another young DT to eventually replace Kyle and Washington as the other rotational player.

Someone is not going to make it.  Right now you have:

Hughes

Murphy

Shaq

Davis

Yarborough

Odigizuwah

Someone is getting cut and or traded.

Somebody is getting packaged in a trade to TB is my guess. Moving up to 7 puts us in a position to ease the fears of Indy or NYG missing out on a non QB player they like. If Cleveland, Jest, and Broncos go QB, that non QB player they like will slip to 7. Some great prospect is going to fall.
