RD 5, Pick 150: WR Justin Shorter, Florida

He’s a big tough dude for sure just a little underwhelming because there were WRs on the board that could separate better than Shorter (Hutchison, Boutte, Perry, Washington). Hoping for the best here since the bills brought him in for a visit and private workout and seem to like him but in the back of mind I’m like man I wish they  gave this pick up for Hopkins lol

Nice 5th round pick.

From the videos provided in this thread, he looks capable for sure.  Of course, these are highlight videos, not bad play videos.

From what I saw - strong.  Good catch radius.  Quick after the catch.  And really important, knows where the sticks are - did a nice job getting open at the sticks for first downs.

Also seems to track the ball well.

Makes the roster, 3rd team to start and hopefully he works to move up the depth chart.

I forgot McKenzie is gone.

Yeah, he’s a lock.

I'm not gonna say he's a lock but the other 3 we have are Dezmon Patmon, Isaiah Coulter and KeeSean Johnson.  Not exactly players that I expect to come out and be productive.

We currently have 5 WR's that can be considered rosterable.  (Diggs, Davis, Shakir, Sherfield, Harty).

Plus a tight end and running back that could sit in the WR room. We could go 5 active and extra practice squad presence at the position

I don’t hate this….and I usually hate everything. I never liked the idea of smurfs with Josh’s skill set. There’s no room for error throwing to smurfs.

100%!

it’s an outdoor cold weather team, with wind, sleet, rain & snow!

It’s taken almost a generation for OBD to finally catch up to me- get big men that provide jump ball huge targets for your huge QB!

No brainer.

Who is he active over?

Diggs

Davis

Hardy

Shakir

Sherfield

No chance he is active over those guys, but he could be active as a 6th WR if he proves special teams value and he has experience on ST.  That will be the ticket to his making the 53 and even more so to be active on Sundays.  If he isn't a starter on ST, he can still make the 53 given his size, but he will have a hard time being active without injuries.

Yeah. Agility is the main rub in this guys case. Wonder if he will ever be a decent route runner. No suddenness or change of tempo. Ok I guess for a fifth round need selection. He's headed to the PS imo.

His pros and cons kind of read like a poor mans DK Metcalf when he was coming out...which is fine by me for a 5th round pick.

Dalton for sure will probably be in the WR room because of his versatility.  Still think Hines is better suited as just a RB and returner.

Kincaid, Knox, shorter all 6’ 4

Davis 6’ 2

Plenty of speed as  well with cook, Hines Harty and sherfield

oh and one of the best wr in nfl with diggs

no matter what d we play we will have the players to counter it

My theme leading up to the draft and efforts to prognasticate the draft, have revolved around the concept that the Bills weakest spot on offense is in the red zone.  ESPN is on top of depth charts.  Will the Bills start 6 WRs?

His upside is fantastic, but my guess is he’s on the practice squad his first year

He’d be poached

From watching YouTube, er...I mean film from my couch. I feel with my limited knowledge and regurgitation of others, that this is a reach. Bad move Beane. Bills just don't want to win.

regurgitation being the key word….
