appreciate you being mindful and trying to do the right thing.

i’m gonna come out and say it. This charity giving is dumb. Do people here actually think Damar Hamlin has a staff handling his toys for kids charity? Who do these people think is handling this money?  While I don’t have a definitive answer,  it is most assuredly Damar himself who, quite frankly, is a little busy at the moment.

maybe people could just wait a hot second and let things settle down.

If someone is intubated, it’s standard procedure that they’re heavily sedated.  Otherwise you feel something stuck in your throat and your reflex is to gag and cough and try to rip it out.

unless the patient is completely unresponsive and not fighting the ventilator.  If he's breathing over the ventilator that would be a good sign.  I certainly hope he is/was.  I disagree with someone else's assertion that this is a "classic case" of anything.  This was a very unusual series of events.

I assume he had a blocked / brokn trachea which would block his airflow which would eventually stop his heart. They restarted his heart and then would need airflow restarted. Many trauma nurses on Twitter have said this is recoverable BUT the big question is how long his brain and organs went without oxygen and what damage is done. It’s not likely that will be known for days so I doubt they will be playing tomorrow either which means the teams likely won’t can’t play this game this week.

That’s interesting. Hadn’t thought about the trachea.

1000s of people across the world must be pretty stupid.

Got you all riled up apparently.

It was verified by go fund me's twitter account.

Thank you but you're not understanding my thoughts.

Based on the discussion here with the Scott and Simon, I think I'm going to wait to see if a fund is established for Damar. It's quite possible one will be established.

Understandable pov, sometimes people just need a way to express themselves while grieving.

I'm pretty sure Go Fund Me is capable of handling the money at the moment.

Then don't donate.  If people want to express their concern by donating to his charity, so be it.

Ryan Clark was the best I’ve seen on ESPN in quite a while.  Very impressed with both the Bills & the Bengals tonight.

Our family turned the sound down & we all prayed for Damar Hamlin.  The ONLY good that comes out of times like this is real priorities are easier to see.

My prayer is with Damar & his family. May he walk out of that hospital.

It’s really just about people feeling sad and helpless and wanting to do something. Sometimes people feel the need to give for something happy.  Unfortunately tonight it’s for something sad.

Likely the NFL wanted to let them decide.  Also, it’s hard to have the proper perspective from a TV.  No one saw or could feel what those players did who were right there watching the cpr.  Hopefully the Bills, Bengals and/or NFL have PTSD counselors, even if Hamlin is okay some players will need them.

It’s one of the ways people are praying, putting resources into something Damar Hamlin cares about.  Maybe there’s an irrationality to it but it’s about emotion.  People have to put their emotions somewhere.  Who cares about how the money is processed right now?

Shallow take. You think the money's going to expire? It's a way to show support and love in a tough moment. If and when he hopefully wakes up, you don't think it'll make him happy to see all of that?

Don't let trying to be edgy be the enemy of being decent.

Forgive me if this has been mentioned already.  I wish I had DVR'd the game, but I swear, when Taron Johnson went down to injury (a dirty head blow by Hayden Hurst in my opinion, shocked that they didn't at least look at it) for some reason, when Joe Buck said that Hamlin was coming in, they briefly showed him coming off the sideline, putting his helmet on...he looked uncomfortable to me then. At the time, I just thought it was perhaps concern for Johnson..or knowing that he has become sort of a fan whipping boy over the last 6 weeks or so....I didn't think it was that unusual...but I noticed it immediately.  It's not the kind of thing I would normally notice, it was just a brief shot.  Maybe it was nothing.Did anyone else see this?

This isn't the thread for this IMO, but the NFL gave them 5 minutes to get back on the field. It was Zac Taylor coming over to to talk to Sean. The NFL then said said temporarily suspended until further notice....don't stick up for the NFL

Your reading skills are to be commended. 🙄

Do you know if anyone is actually able to receive this money? If people want to express their concern and it had to be done this very minute there are countless places to donate money where their ability to handle such influx is known.

$1.1M and counting will help pay for a staff, don’t worry.  Maybe you could wait a hot second and settle down.

Hamlin was already on the field, wasn’t he? He’s the safety and Taron is the nickel cornerback. Siran Neal came in to replace TJ.

yea, even if it’s the worst scenarios I can come up with, i see no real downside to a million dollars going to a cause he cares about.
