That was my first thought SC!

😂

Honestly, if tis makes any sense to any of you...this has been one of the worst victory weeks in memory.

What in the world could it be if he is shutting down for he season?

...best safety in the game.  My goodness.

Obviously, bad news.  I've always thought Micah is the anchor to the defense.

Bills have had had great injury luck over the past few years.   Tre's injury was the beginning of that pendulum swinging the other way.

The silver lining is that this has happened so early in the season.  Assuming Tre comes back healthy and the Bills don't lose anyone else, by December the Bills will have a solid defensive backfield, with Tre, Taron, and the best of Jackson, Elam, and Benford at corner and Poyer and the best of Jackson and Hamlin at safety.   The youngsters now have a couple of months to grow up in the league.  The talent and the coaching is there to be solid by the time the games really matter.

Where does Hyde rank on the top 5 most irreplaceable players on the Bills defense?

He doesn’t? He’s a great player and leader and captain. But this is the top 5

allen

diggs

von

dawkins

Edmunds

Edit - I see now it says defense only. I would say

von

edmunds

the safety duo together but could lose 1 and be ok

We shall find out.

That being said… we’re a very different defense now, compared to years past.

Years past, our heart was the secondary… now, if the first two games are any indication … it’s the front line domination with our DL and LB’s.

In terms of where we could lose a guy and still have a guy ready to step in… it’s at Safety with Jaquan Johnson.

Should we start thinking about a trade? next man up only goes so far. we need DB depth at the least if not 1 starting DB

They need to add a safety but don’t need to make a trade imo. They don’t have a safety on the PS. In fact it was the only position they did not add at all in the off-season. That said I think Benford could add depth at safety when Tre returns

Figured something like this would happen the second I saw the post reveling in our ability to stay healthy.  The inevitable

you and me both dude.

Big blow but the front 7 is stout, the line is deep and at the offense can’t be stopped. No time to fret. This is still our year.

I was thinking this too but his athletic profile to me seems more like a Poyer replacement than a Hyde replacement. Either way we have the best secondary coaching in the league. They'll figure it out.

The only way we weren’t walking our way to the Super Bowl was injuries.

*****.

As I said in the offseason, the full import of “13 Seconds” would only be realized if we don’t get that close again.  The Bills had a red carpet laid out for them last season and the coaches screwed it up. Losing Hyde is manageable but they can’t afford too many more.

Bummer news. Get well soon Micah!

Early hot take.. with both Benford and Elam getting so much playing time early in the season and looking pretty good and with Tre coming back from injury in a few weeks any chance any of them can make the conversion from corner to Free Safety? I believe it is not unheard of for corners to convert to safeties later in their careers. As good as Tre is I'm not sure he has the build for a safety. I'm also mostly intrigued because I hate to have one of Benford or Elam on the bench when Tre comes back when they are playing so well.

But first lets see how Jaquan Johnson plays. His time to step up. And he will have a great supporting cast around him.

How can you say that at this point? I would think there's a high chance he could end up retiring from this. He'll be 32 in a couple months and this is not a minor injury.

I agree. Given age and where the injury is, regardless of severity, we may have seen the last of Micah on the field for the Bills.
