Victory Formation
Bills desperately need an impact player on defense...someone with fire and intensity...I don’t care if it’s a CB or a LB or a DT or a DE or a safety but we need someone out there who can play.. The Frankish Reich
My $ .02 -- I thought the Bills defense did everything right on that last drive. 34 seconds to go 75 yards. My biggest fear was that Kyler would peel off a 40 yard scramble to get them in range; they contained him. They completed short passes up the middle. We had them with no timeouts and a chance for a quick out and a shorter Hail Mary, or two Hail Marys. He only needed one. Electric young talent at QB (we're lucky that Josh is one of the few others who could've pulled this off), probably the best receiver in the world on the other end -- the same guy who killed us in Houston last year did it again. Great playmakers making great plays. It doesn't bother me at all. What does bother me is abandoning the running game, particularly to start the second half with the empty backfield on the first series. Why? tbonehawaii
Saying we got dunked on. Classy. It was a lucky catch. That’s why the call it a Hail Mary. Hyde almost knocked it down. The end. 1

Big Turk
It wasn't lucky, he makes those types of plays a lot...he high points the ball and beings it down in traffic. Normally not in a Hail Mary situation but he has caught the ball and scored with White draped all over him when he was with the Texans too... Just a great play by a great player. It happens. It wasn't a playoff game, we still are alive. 1

Bad coaching. The problem with that is Davis is still a rookie so not sure I'd want to trust him that he doesn't get called for interference or something. Not certain I'd trust Knox there either as he's big, but use to more a TE role where you can knock people around some. The other issue I'd have with using an offensive player in that situation is that with 11 seconds it's not likely the last play so still have to worry about throwing a 25 yard pass completion and going out of bounds as likely could be a wide open receiver as you just basically gave up one player by putting him back there. If that had been an incompletion and now there's 2 seconds left, then I'd put him back there.

JoPoy88
Not quite sure I’d characterize his catch as pure luck. He’s an all-pro receiver and timed his jump and catch perfectly. He may have been the beneficiary of some luck if you believe poyer diving back into Tre impeded White’s chance to break it up.

pennstate10
havent read all 10 pages of this thread, but I'm thinking one of our DBs--not White, who was in best position, but Hyde or Poyer should have pulled on his arm, before or after the ball got there. Officials are taught not to throw flags on hail Marys.

That wasn’t a Hail Mary throwing the ball into a crowd with dumb luck. It was a jump ball and he won it fair and square. Hopefully a teaching moment and lesson learned in a non conference regular season game instead of in the playoffs. There will inevitably be a couple very close games against elite talents in January if we intend to make a run. I’d much rather be the team that comes up with those plays, instead of a team like the saints who have been eliminated on last minute plays almost every season for a decade.

Between only needing to get a hand on it, and being able to rough him up there are a lot of plays to be made there. Our guys didn’t make the play today. It happens. Hopefully not often. wvbillsfan
Just watched it back. I know we have a catch thread already but when I posted it merged with my previous reply. Did anyone else noticed Poyer come through like a freight train and knock Tre out of the way. He’s going for the ball but my gosh if he doesn’t get in the play or hits Hopkins like that Bills win. Not making Poyer out to be the problem. Just something I didn’t notice the first 5 times I saw the catch.

Hebert19
Watch the fins pats finish when gronk missed the tackle. 1. With 11 seconds left you expect them to possibly try to pick up a quick 10 so they have more options so you keep base D out. 2. They still got pressure trying to force a quick throw. They weren't playing a prevent staying st the goal line...which is the right call. Be aggressive. 3. We got beat by a fluke play with 3 of our best defenders right there. Thats not a coaching issue.
