But, I don’t know that Beane is willing to go deep enough into his pockets for that. I’m still worried that on offense, Beane is trying to “buy Champagne on a Beer budget” Do you think Josh Allen’s “Red carpet remarks” at NFL Awards where he apparently just gushed and enthused about Knox, then the twitter pics of Allen flanked by Knox and Sweeney at the Sabres game, might have been a factor? I would THINK that a multi-pro-bowl TE wouldn’t sweat competition with a guy who dropped 20% of his targets last year but I dunno.
BuffaloMatt
10 games is my over for him in 2020. Being injury prone late in his career makes him too expensive of a risk - Great Job by Beane to pass!!

LABILLBACKER
Good is right. Now use that money we would've wasted on an aging TE and put it toward Hunter Henry or Hooper. He's going right back in the booth anyway after this season.

Jauronimo
At least we still have Croom. Looks like hes reasonably well rested. I think hes decent shape from carrying all of Kelly's shopping bags.
wvbillsfan
Doesn’t hurt my feelings. Chance to play with a good qb in an offense that features a tight end. Got a really good contract as well. Lurker
Why do I get the feeling that many of the posts saying "$7 million's too high" would have said "Beane's a genius" if he'd signed here for that amount...

Buddo
TBH, I think the contract would have been around the same wherever he chose to go. His production warrants it. I also think he could have been a significant upgrade for us, even before we have FA and the draft. While I believe he would have done well here, I can't say that I blame him for choosing Seattle. Ultimately he's going to a team that has a QB who already has a ring, and is a consistent performer at a high level, rather than to a team that is on the rise, but may still need another year developing, to get over the hump, and win a playoff game, with a young QB who hasn't shown quite enough consistency yet. QCity
Bullet dodged. Not much value in giving a young QB a 35yr-old band-aid that's going to struggle to stay on the field. Fix the position correctly.
4merper4mer
The main downside of Seattle signing Olsen is that the legend of Austin Hooper is going to spin out of control for a month. If I never read that bag of hype's name on here again it'll be too soon. 2
billsfan89
Pass, I like Olsen but only on a 3-4 million dollar price for a small portion guaranteed. He got Seattle to pay him up more and good for him but he was priced out of this team. I think there are other vet TE's out on the market that could be had at a better price. I think he will address the drops which I think (Hope?) were mostly due to being too anxious to start running before securing the catch. I really think Knox has very good size and speed and we also saw some “want to” on some plays.
