njbuff
Do you think they are waiting out Ansah? Or do you think they will trade for Frank Clark or Clowney? Or will they just go with what they have, if they don't draft a pass rusher?

Once the draft starts, Ansah wont be a Bill if he wasn't already. 2. I seriously doubt they trade for Clowney. I do think Frank Clark is a possibility though, just reports seem to suggest we aren't interested, so seems like a low possibility. 3. I think if we stay at 9 we will certainly pick an EDGE rusher over say one of the DTs. Although I also still wouldn't rule out a weapon for Josh. 4. I think plan A is to trade down.
Dkollidas
I agree that they’ll draft a defensive lineman in the 1st. The talent at the top, both edge and interior, is elite. A guy like Christian Wilkins is usually a consensus top-10 to 12 pick as an interior guy. This year he might go towards the end of the first round. They built up their offense in free agency so they could go BPA in the 1st Round. If they can get their hands on an Ed Oliver, Montez Sweat or Christian Wilkins, I think they’re taking it.

Formerly Allan in MD
They'll draft a pass rusher. It may not be in the first round, if that's what you're hoping for.

I think if they don't draft a pass rusher, they are either trading for Clowney or pretty set on getting Ansah (I think it also means they did not sign OG Spain in FA)
NoSaint
I think they will go BPA. I think few, if any, moves in free agency will change that evaluation. Without actually listing names and individual odds- i guess id say it’s about 33% edge rusher, 33% DT and 33% the field if trying to project what’s bpa at
CaptnCoke11
I’m hoping for an edge player or DT. They can snag a good tight end in the second or third.

I think beane feels little pressure because of his injury status (kind of a moderate risk high reward but not required piece) and Ansah would pick the saints if the Quinn trade doesn’t work. No shade here. Just a shot at a ring and some more pieces on the line with him so he’s less of a focal point. It’ll be interesting to see where these couple of pieces land. Florida Bills Fanatic
When you watched McD's defense in Carolina, they generated a lot of pressure on the pocket from the d-tackles, especially from K. Short. I think he places a lot of value in that. The Bills were not able to generate that pressure consistently in 2018. With Kyle Williams gone, they have even less talent now. I have a feeling that the Bills will try to add that skill set to the defense with pick #9. There are several outstanding d-tackles in this draft.

Bookie Man
I remember watching games last year thinking that pass rush should be a top priority. Oliver at 9, followed up by EDGE with 2nd pick would be ok with me.

Logic
1 hour ago, Dr. Who said: Why is that exactly? Because of two things he said. First, he had the comment about "if there is truly depth at any position -- let's say defensive line -- then that allows you to push that need down the draft." This is INDEED a deep draft at defensive line, and the Bills have been meeting with more projected mid-round linemen and edge rushers than I thought they would. Second, Beane mentioned that if you consider a position weak in the draft, it'll probably cause you to make sure you sign someone at that position in free agency, so that if you miss out on the top few guys, you're not in a bad position. Here, to me, it seemed like he was talking about offensive linemen and wide receivers. Putting the two things together: if defensive line (and, for that matter, tight end) are both deep positions in this draft, but Beane feels that offensive line and wide receiver are NOT particularly deep (and his signing 5 O-linemen and 3 WRs in FA support this notion), then I can't help but wonder if the plan is to try to grab the best player available at one of those shallow positions (OL or WR) early, knowing that you can still get good DL and TEs later into the draft. It is all completely guess work and inference on my part. I mostly believe them this year when they say they'll take BPA. And I'd even say I still view d-line as the LIKELY first round pick. But today's comments by Beane, for the reasons I mentioned, represented the first time that I seriously considered that they might take a different position instead and wait to get some d-linemen later in the draft, given its depth at those positions. 1

rayray808
we could trade for Ogbah, then sign Ansah, and STILL draft defense at 9, or get Josh a shiny new toy and grab a WR - either way we are sitting pretty with how we filled so many holes thus far through free agency

The DL is the only unit that has taken a step backwards since last season ended and I believe that elite defense starts with a dominant DL. Kyle is gone. Both Shaq and T Murphy are merely adequate. This is the best DL draft class in a while. I'll be stunned if Oliver is there at 9 and they pass on him.
