Buffalo / Philly Postgame thread

People already going off on the coaching staff. Unbelievable.

This game was totally on the Bills players and the refs.

If Cook doesn't drop a gimme TD, Gabe and Josh are on the same page in OT, and Tyler hits his FGs, the Bills win by 16 points.

And don't even get me started on the refs.

The Bills just lose these big games. Especially this year late in the 4th quarter. I wonder why they always lose these?

We're burning TO's on that last drive uselessly and with 20 seconds left, and a TO, we are kneeling to go to OT... After he just witnessed their PK hit what should have been an impossible 59 yarder. But it's not impossible...

He's gotta go folks. And the sooner we all realize it the sooner we can move on together.

Officially done with McDermott. It's been heading that way for a while, but I just can't do it anymore. He comes up small in every big moment. He is just outclassed more weeks than not. You basically need 1 stop the last quarter and a half and can't get one and the same thing happens in OT. He is a liability and we will never win because of a decision he makes, only in spite of him. He panics and folds every single time he has a chance to put a game away.  Useless time outs that could have been used to try to get to midfield or better for our own FG attempt before OT (Last I checked, 20 second with time outs is more than 13 seconds with timeouts).  Trying to ice a kicker when he should have let the guy come out under a time crunch and try to make a rushed 58 yard kick instead of letting the entire team regroup, collect their thoughts and be as prepared as possible.  You can go on and on about all the things that could have made a difference.

McDermott is not only not getting it done play calling wise in the most important situations, but he is active going out of his way to make decisions that hurt his own team.  He is a liability and I've had enough.  He is wasting our superstar QB's career.

PS. Gabe Davis is awful. This team needs a real NFL #2 WR in the worst way.

I mean...I dunno what to say...all they had to do is make a single play out of these easy freebies and the game is over.

  • James Cook dropping a TD
  • Bass missing 2 FG's(1 was blocked)
  • Hyde turning his head around and not allowing a "Hail Hurts" that for all intents and purposes looked exactly like the "Hail Murray".
  • Gabe Davis not turning the wrong way against a blitz that would have led him to an easy TD

Another game where the Bills had to beat themselves via dumb plays and penalties(many of which the refs gave the Eagles as gifts as well as many no calls against them).

Put up 505 yards against the Eagles...there is NO WAY they should have lost this game.

When are Bills reporters going to call for McDermott's job? Icing the kicker, wasting a timeout they could have used Calling timeout in OT giving them more time to plan the play Defensive playcalls that a blind QB could pick apart Dorsey was a problem, Sean is THE PROBLEM!

In the biggest moments, McDermott comes up small.  It's not a trend any longer is every game and a fact.  Kneeling on the ball with 20 seconds left is f*cking gutless. He's the best 1st half D coach and the worst 2nd half coach.  He simply has to go, though we all know it aint happening.  HIS d allows last minute scores to lose games in NE, DEN, PHI.  Inexcusable.  I'm not even going to get into his clock management comical ability

Just a killer but it's how the season has gone.  Offence gets a TD late to go ahead and defence melts down in crunch time. Poyer and Hyde are done,  finished and time to get guys that can run and make plays.  Two passes that floated in the air and both Hyde and Poyer could not make plays on either on

The DC needs to be fired ... His 59th and 60th minute defense is the worst in the league. His OT defenses are trash as well. That's 3 games the defense blew the lead within the final minute of the game.

Against Mac, Russ, and now Jalen. Absolutely pathetic.

It just seems impossible that the Bills keep coming out on the wrong side of these games. I mean, what?! Statistically, these kinds of games have to start breaking in favor of the Bills. They have to: unless there is a higher power involved — which I am actually starting to consider.

Never if they want access to the Bills.

Yeah, this officiating crew was hard to watch.  It's time to just call the penalties from upstairs.  And they missed yet another blatant hold or PI on Slay when he held Diggs' jersey on the possession in OT.  Do they not ever call penalties on Slay or something?

It was really bad first Philly touchdown RT pulled an early Lane Johnson and i mean it was blatant

Reasons the Bills lost in order:

Bass: missed two FGs

Refs: The Intentional Grounding instead of a Horsecollar tackle took 7 off the board for the Bills

McDermott: Defense owns Eagles in the 1st half.... they adjust in the tune of 24 points in the 2nd half. You play a soft defense and on 3rd and 4 in OT you give the Eagles a cushion and easy First Down. YOU HAVE TO PLAY TO HAVE THEM KICK THE FG. Also taking a to before the EAgles kick the ball to tie it at 31. You keep that 2nd TO and then ask Allen to get you into FG in two plays with 20 seconds left (that's about 35 yards in 19 seconds).

Drops: 7 of them in all

Davis/Allen last throw: It was a walk off TD. Davis runs an Out Route and Allen throws it inside. Should have been a TD. I don't know who messed it up but that was the game.

McDermott is not a winner

All the investment is a defense that NEVER comes up Big in a big game

We couldn't beat the Eagles and the Refs today.  End of story, and season almost certainly over.  But, overall the Bills looked more like what we expected today.  We should not have been in a position where we needed wins over the top teams in the NFL.

Exactly this. That was a damn good football game between two really great teams. But because the Bills lost to the Pats, Jets and Broncos it ended their season. Oh well. I could get angry, but what good does that do?

I can’t think of what other hobby I would continue doing that literally does nothing but make me stressed and upset.

My other sporting passion in Australian Rugby  (Wests Tigers) is exactly the same … snatches defeat from the jaws of victory whilst getting raped very week by the referees … what did I do to deserve this ?

I mean thats how you manipulate a game.  If the refs call a fair game, Bills would have overcome all their idiotic tendencies.  But in the end all that will be remembered is how McD sucks.  It's ok for him to go regardless.
