SCBills
Dude is all heart. He's a guy that I believe we don't have the luxury of offering a contract lucrative enough to compete remotely close to what he'll likely receive in Free Agency, but it's still going to be sad to see him in a different uniform. Let's hope he goes out a Super Bowl Champion! 5 1
thenorthremembers
Poyer is the definition of the type of player that Beane has said they want to keep in Buffalo. That said, if he really wants to be the top paid safety in football I dont see how the Bills swing it. 1 2 2
dorquemada
Find a way to keep him. I have faith in Beane on this. The Bills are a better team and the D is a lot more steady when he's in. His presence allows the DBs to swing for the fences more, and has the passion that the D seems to otherwise lack in his absence. Git r done Beane! 5

BigDingus
We paid big money for a guy who's 2 years older than Poyer. Age isn't my concern yet. I hope they can at least offer him a strong 3 year contract, even if he's looking for longer. He's a key leader of this defense, and an All Pro when healthy. Either way, I'll root for him wherever he goes. I just hope he gets his much deserved ring here.

Back2Buff
I think Poyer is going to be very shocked at how little interest there is out there for the money he thinks he is going get. This season exposed a lot of what many worried about with Poyer, the body breaking down. He injured just about every part of his body this year and its no surprise its happening as he is 32 years old. I don't see any team giving him more than a 2 year deal, with the option of getting out of it after 1. 4

Can make some cap room but yea - oliver would have to be moved to keep both edmunds and poyer. 1 minute ago, Beast said: Spend that money on another weapon for Allen or someone to protect Allen. I think the draft needs to be fairly offense heavy - WR somewhere in there, a C/G, a tackle, maybe a TE or RB (depends on hines - big pay for a small contribution). Whoever of - Poyer, Edmunds, Oliver that you plan to move on from needs to be replaced as well. You can dip your toes in FA, and people will play for less to come play here now, but they needs a good draft to infuse the offense with some young talent.

MrEpsYtown
Really tough evaluation. They are in a tough spot here with Poyer and Edmunds coming up, as well as having some other issues on the roster. If I have to choose between Poyer and Hyde, I take Hyde (despite the fact that he has missed the entire season.) But Poyer is a warrior who belongs here and should finish his career here. He is underpaid, but he should not approach the Derwin James type contract. At the end of the day it is very much a buyer beware with him. A guy who did nothing before he got here and developed into a great player in a system he is tailor made for. Then consider age and injury history, I do not think free agency is going to be kind to him. His comp in terms of level of play and age etc is probably Tyrann Mathieu, who as a free agent last year signed a 3 year 28 million dollar deal, 9.5 per year. I think that is fair. I think the Bills let him test the market to see his value, with an eye on bringing him back. 1

If Po was 29 I'd be screaming for them to extend him (and indeed was when he was last due) but a team where the Bills are in their cycle can't commit big money to a 32 year old safety and Po deserves the chance maximise his money in FA.

I think you can go two routes, if you have to spend to keep Poyer I would probably just go after the big fish which is Jesse Bates. He's a great fit and would play well with Hyde. The other route is too look for undervalued FA corners (like Hyde and Poyer were) who could make an impact as a safety conversion.
Scott7975
Im hoping they can come to terms on a reasonable couple year deal. He's been getting paid as a top safety for multiple years now. After the first three games of the season, Poyer has been pretty average, maybe even below average. Obviously the injures have hurt him, but I don't see those just disappearing. Getting old stinks. Last 10 games: 646, snaps, 37 solo tackles, 54 total tackles, 3 TFL, 0 QB hits, 0 INT, 2 pass defended
