I would’ve taken my shot with the picks odds are they are probably getting a better player than Chubb with one of those. stats wise they are probably gonna have to roll with tua now but if they spent some of that cap space and signed Lamar they’d be insane also. This is where I am at. I really don't get it. And on top of that, I think they sort of forced their hand into a Bud Dupree sized extension. Chubb seemed prime for a 1-2 year prove it deal to get his head on straight, get back to form, and stay healthy. But now that the Dolphins already gave up a first for him, they'll have to extend him. The league/GM's likely had more leverage had his deal expired, this move gave all the leverage back to Chubb.

Hines is one of the most athletic players in the league and was severely underutilized in Indianapolis. He can make guys miss in a phone booth (to quote Rex Ryan when talking about McCoy) and he can pass catch as good as any RB. He is going to quickly become a fan favorite. Great move Beane. PS, grab him in your fantasy football league if he is available - Allen and Hines are going to shine together. If Hines was available during FA Beane would have targeted him over McKissic. No doubt in my mind. 1

I would have rather resigned Singletary next season but I think this all but sealed his fate. 🤷♂️ They owe him $0. This is a half season rental. Singletary was never going to be re-signed under any circumstance, and Hines won't be here under this contract either.

Hines does actually play out of the slot, but unlike Beasley, he gets significant YAC and is extremely athletic and versatile. Beasley at his best was a catch and go down guy. I wasn’t speaking on physical attributes. More of a mental tool for 17. Knowing that he has a guy on third down that can get open. Diggs is often double teamed on 3rd. Isaiah’s size limitations and past miscues hurts his reliability on 3rd down. Hines is a guy that can get open quick, is a seasoned playmaker and will likely be matched up with someone slower than him. A guy Josh can lean on on 3rd down. Singletary has been getting a lot of touches the past few games and has looked pretty good. That said it improves the team a bit and the cost was almost nothing so sure, I'll take it. Kamara would have been game changing but the cost would have been immense, and the saints probably wouldn't want to deal anyway. Cook is averaging 5.5 ypc and 15 ypc on a handful of catches. So not sure how arrived at this conclusion. Cook was a 2nd Round pick, and outside of his fumble against the Rams, he looks like he belongs. In a vacuum, if you just made him the starter today, and gave him 14 carries like Singletary got against the Packers, I think he'd be fine. I think he'd average +4 ypc and look like an NFL player. I don't understand why the Bills are rolling Cook out so slowly. Congrats to them for figuring out Moss was useless, but Hines comes in and plays above Cook right away? Not sure the reasoning on this.
ColoradoBills
13 minutes ago, SCBills said: Why can’t our backfield for next year be Hines, Cook and a mid/late round bruiser back? We’re likely never going to draft or pay a Josh Jacobs/Nick Chubb type. Hines and a 2nd year Cook give us two guys with speed and pass catching ability. As long as Cook can develop pass pro ability, what else do we need? Sign or Draft a mid/late round big back for short yardage and let’s go. This was my theory when I first heard of the trade rumor for Hines and after I gave it some thought. The fact that Beane did this makes me think that from what they have seen so far with Cook is that he can be a RB1. Add a cheap RB3 short yardage guy who can play some ST and the running back room is set for next year. As to the money, Hines has a contract now that is set-up for him to take a small pay cut in return for some guaranteed dollars.

Coach Tuesday
6 minutes ago, Mango said: I think part of the issue is we have had issues with putting together a strong run blocking OL. So we are "meh" at RB, the IOL situation makes it worse, but pass blocking has been OK. Then we enter this viscous cycle of "we gotta get a guy to give us production in the run game". I do think this move will actually increase the number of touches Singletary gets, which I am a fan of. RB's have to get into rhythm. The "take McKenzie off the field take" is grating me a little. We already think Shakir should be getting more snaps than he is getting. Cook was drafted in the 2nd partially because of his ability to line up wide. This isn't actually a void that needs filling. (That's what she said) Kick returns and some sweeps/end-arounds - neither Cook nor Shakir do those things; Hines can do them well; McKenzie does everything poorly. The two players I’ve been most worried about preventing us from winning a trophy this year: Isiah McKenzie (his idiocy could cost them a playoff game) and Matthew Judon (he seems to try to injure 17). 1 1

Right, I understand why people want McKenzie off the field. I am not arguing that he shouldn't. I was saying that the problem isn't that we needed an upgrade behind McKenzie. Shakir and Cook are already on the roster and not taking any meaningful snaps away from McKenzie. Hell, we just gave our TE a $15M AAV extension. For reference, in 2020 Travis Kelce was targeted, as in the ball was thrown to him, 110 times when lined up in the slot.
