My screen name was picked because I struggle with conviction. I rarely feel something so strongly to be true that it consumes my identity. Because of this I have developed a false self confidence of sorts. A voice in my head that tells me I am justified and correct when I finally do reach some level of conviction. I think the logic at work here is that if I am not easily convicted then I must only be convicted by something extraordinarily convincing. I say false confidence, but the truth is I trust this intuition and allow it to guide my actions regarding the “big” questions. Since most of my strongly held beliefs have taken a long time to form I am not ashamed to hold them once they reach maturity. I think this is a good thing. Another part of the way my mind works is that my convictions are subject to change. I think this is also a good thing. It feels to me that the Truth is never going to reveal itself to me as a whole so to get closer to the Truth my views should constantly be changing and adapting as more and more of the unreachable is revealed to me. Truth, I would say at this point in my life, is not entirely obtainable. However, I would also qualify this statement and say that it is every bit worth searching for. Which brings me to my main point. I do not write this to make an argument for why Truth is worth the search, that would be another topic I’d love to tackle and might at some point. No, I write this to explain primarily to myself where I am right now as far as my convictions and where those convictions are going to and coming

Now I know! Thank you. Even though it was an 80's movie, I had never seen this one, though I had heard the reference "Lighten up Francis" numerous times. Reminds me of a time in college. There was a guy from France whose name was Jean. Another student was making fun of him, and called him the American "Jean". He got angry, and said "personne ne m'appelle Jean!" ("nobody calls me Jean!").

Some really cool names and stories. And then there’s me…I was smoking a bowl when I signed up.
Wish I was a little more creative at the time, but I kinda like it now.

I thought you were just short and dumb. Lol

Did you tag the right user name above for @Golden*Wheels? I always wondered who that Native American person was in his profile pic. It used to have glowing eyes, at least on the old BBMB.

[And thanks for fixing that typo in the title!]

Pretty simple really... NI Bills Fan, as in Northern Ireland Bills Fan.

Born and raised in Northern Ireland and became hooked on the Bills in 1990 when I was 11 years of age.  Much in part due to playing John Madden on the Sega Megadrive console and the NFL was well covered at the time in the UK on Channel 4.

I didn't join this board until a few years ago and would just like to thank you all... My fandom, enjoyment and knowledge of the game has increased since reading all you guys argue, sorry converse about this great sport. 😉😅

My name is pretty self-explanatory but I'd like to add the Caveat I came onto the boards in the early-ish stages of the Drought.  The morale was very low at that time being a Bills fan but I still had so much pride from the glory years and always was plugged into that feeling I guess.  I chose the number 12 because at the time I thought it was the most synonymous number associated with the Bills but I've been very tempted to change my name to BillsPride17.  Ultimately decided to just keep it the same because it represents where my mind was at during the Drought years and at this point those are like proud battle scars.

So before the bills were born it seemed like if you lived Syracuse and East you were a Giants fan and us here in Rochester and west were Brown's fans. So being born in 1956 by the time the bills started in 1960 all my memories are completely of the bills. He would take me to games when he could but if it was blacked out we would drive until we could watch a game at a bowling alley or wherever we could find it. He left me his binoculars that we always took to the games. Inside of it he had all the tickets stubs of when he went to Browns games and everyone of the bills games. When I when I was looking to see if any of the stubs slipped under I found out it had a false bottom and inside of it was a little tiny bottle of Scotch like you get on the airplane. I was trying to save it until they won the Super Bowl but when the 13 seconds happened I said a prayer and drank it so there you have it Super Bowl or bust! This is our year go bills

Not really! Do you like to ski, or is that just part of the name? Why goat, and why the French definite article? You don't have to tell anyone, but some people could still be left wondering

Ditto and Chandler#81 was taken.

I’m not sure player uniforms were available to buy back then so I wish I would’ve ordered a custom jersey with his name and #.

I have one -from China. We only wore the mid-60’s home blue throwbacks for a couple seasons -which pizzez me off still-so I ordered this then. Bobbyc#81 wore it. I’m glad cuz they’re no longer available. I’ve had to re-paint the numbers a couple times so I don’t wear it much anymore..

My middle name is Augustine. (Thanks mom & dad!)  As a kid my sister, 3 years older, would tease me calling me Augie Doggie. It’s an old cartoon for the youngin’s. Around the time I joined the board she had just had a quadruple bypass. She’s tall, thin, never smoked and walked the dogs miles every day. Last person in a crowd you’d guess would need a quadruple bypass. I was thinking of her and her recovery when I picked a name.

Mine’s Andrew…. Augustine is pretty cool. Maybe not when you’re a kid but now I’d be digging it.
