Teams had to plan ahead for Steve Tasker every week. He is not just a Bills legend.. but a football legend period. He should most definitely be in the hall of fame but regardless if he is or isn’t.. we all know just how special he was. 9 1
Let's Go Buffalo
I know I've commented on this before, but Steve Tasker was a human missile wearing a helmet! I've always felt that he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. He was the best at his position for many years, and Hall of Fame coaches have admitted to game planning around him on Special Teams. I wished that he had been utilized more as a wide receiver, because he would have probably already been inducted by now in my opinion. 4

billsfan_34
I believe the NFL needs to have X amount of spots for each position every year, STs included. 2
DCOrange
I’m hopeful but a part of me wonders if he and Devin Hester split “special teams” votes so that neither one gets in this year.
Yobogoya!
Tasker would really benefit by a little campaigning if someone in the media took up his cause, but he should be in regardless. The best ever in the history of football to play special teams should be getting enshrined before the 22nd best ever wide receiver.
chongli
This is Tasker's final year of regular eligibility before gong to the Coach/Senior Committee (players go to there in their 25th year of retirement). Let's do it! Edited November 24, 2021 by chongli
Big Turk
How Curtis Martin made it with 4.0 career YPC and largely based on volume of carries rather than overall excellence but Tasker, a guy who changed how special teams was played and how football was played isn't in, is mind boggling to me. 7
jkeerie
On One Bills Live today, though appreciative, Tasker is not optimistic. He thinks there are too many really great WRs eligible this year.

dhg
I think the semi final list isn't as strong as previous years, so this may be Tasker's best shot. Otherwise he's likely waiting until he's in the senior class of nominees

Ethan in Cleveland
They really have watered-down the HOF with some of the recent entries. Lynch, Atwater, Dawkins, Martin, James, Law, Mawae, Warner, and Davis are all recent entries that should have never deen inducted. Tasker was a good player and a great story. In my opinion he is not a HOF talent, but I don't think these other players were either. So maybe he has a shot. It took forever to get the first punter. Maybe they make a statement about the importance of special teams by voting in Tasker and Devin Hester.

GunnerBill
This is not a great list of semi-finalists. Perfect chance to put Tasker in IMO. Maybe they make a statement about the importance of special teams by voting in Tasker and Devin Hester. I disagree on Kurt Warner. Like very strongly. Until Mahomes he held multiple NFL records for the best first 50 games by a QB in NFL history. He made it to 3 Superbowls with two different franchises, both of whom were totally moribund when he got there. I'd have put Kurt Warner in on the first ballot and said so at the time. I think he went in as a 2nd year eligible but I believe him to be an absolute slam dunk Hall of Famer. I get that his career wasn't as long as most HoF QBs but that wasn't on him that was on coaches who overlooked him and he still went on to be great. And that is before you add in the fact that the Greatest Show on Turf changed the way the game is played. On the others in that list that I saw play, I agree with you. But I believe Kurt Warner is a slam dunk Hall of Famer.

Hester was a return specialist and perhaps the best ever. But that’s where his play as a special teams player ends. Tasker was not only a return specialist at times, he was also a gunner on punts and kickoffs where he routinely made game changing plays; from downing punts deep in opponent’s territory to forcing and recovering fumbles. In addition, he had seven blocked punts to his credit as well. There has never been a more complete, all-around and impactful special teams player before or since. If it’s true that special teams are a key component of the game like every coach has said forever it seems, then Tasker qualifies in every way. 1

Nextmanup
There are a few names almost every year that get into the HOF that leave me cold--where I'm thinking "Really? That guy? He's going into the HOF?" If that's the standard at least for some, Tasker should be in there. This is not the big deal some people paint it to be. If he were to get in, most people would forget about it 48 hours later.
