  1. Scary thing is that if any team could recover from that level of stupidity, KC is probably the one team that could. Andy Reid has always maximized the talents of his QB's, and with that many picks they'd find him someone who could execute his offense with at least a Donovan McNabb/ Alex Smith type of production.
  2. Drafting is a crap-shoot because of the human element. There's maybe an infinite number of intangible variables that will go into how a selected player interacts with his coaches, teammates, scheme -- and of course his off-field environment. It's not like Madden where the highest score is automatically the best score, and there's largely no reason not to use the highest rated players. All the sports science/ psychology in the world will never be able to perfectly predict how a prospect pans out. And if it eventually can, it will mean that AI has figured us out and we have far bigger things to worry about than football. 😅
  3. That is a dismal offense on paper but with Roman as OC you know it’s going to be a run first, run heavy offense. But Herbert might be the best passer a Roman/Harbaugh tandem has ever had to work with. Might not need top shelf receivers to make an offense work, and any RB will probably thrive there.
  4. This team was so scattershot at returner last year, seemed like they were just doing whatever. Didn't Fournette field kicks at one point? Lol
  5. I mean a third round pick is just ridiculous. You want to throw someone a 7th for diversity hires be my guest. But a day two pick cuz someone hired out of your staff had the right skin color? Give me a break…
  6. I like this format. It doesn't paint a pretty picture of us having a reliable foundation of elite talent. Looks like they've only done the AFC East so far, the Pats are predictably weak but here's the Fins and Jets for comparison:
  7. It's true that Shanahan deserves a lot of credit for that, I certainly can't imagine many coaches (ours included) taking Brock Purdy or Jimmy G anywhere near a super bowl. Of course when it came down to it, he seemed to put a bit too much confidence in those QB's, so you probably have to deduct a few points for that. But I also think it should go without saying the 9'ers are benefiting from not having a truly elite QB in the NFC right now.
  8. It's an interesting case study, that relationship. They used to say how Belichick would start every team meeting for the new week by highlighting every play Tom Brady f'ed up the last game, no matter win or lose or how well he played. That obviously fed into Brady's motivation but it also fed into his resentment. But obviously those results aren't typical. Unlocking the intangible x factor that made it work for them would probably be an impossible task.
  9. Yes, you're 100% correct... but I can't help it. Lamar being a 2x MVP while Josh gets overlooked is the kind of grave injustice I feel on an existential level. It feels like I'm living in an upside-down reality surrounded by non-euclidean geometry and s---, everything's just out of whack. ***** man I don't even know what's real anymore! 😭
  10. I mean if you really think about it, it's the Bears' fault for taking Trubisky instead of Mahomes at #2. What a bunch of jack-wagons.
  11. I'm in the camp that feels special teams is grossly neglected in the HOF, so I've got no problem with Hester getting in. Best return man of all time, if you can't make room for him but can find room for the 30th best receiver or running back that just doesn't make sense to me. But it flies right in the face of them overlooking Tasker, who didn't have all the flashy touchdowns but was a game changer regardless. Shame.
  12. Yep, can't argue with the results. But some day those chicken nuggies are gonna come home to roost! At least that's what I'd like to believe 🤓
  13. The Bills put far more of a premium on character and work ethic than the Chiefs do. Which is ironic when you consider some of the controversy we've had (araiza, miller, etc). But the Chiefs will take a guy no matter their background if they can play at a high level. Pats would always do the same. And I'm not necessarily advocating for stockpiling scumbags, but it makes you wonder if we can win it all the "process" way. Every Chiefs game for the last 4-5 years I swear you'd think the offensive staff/players had never seen a single snap of film on Spags' defense. Even in the biggest games at the highest level, he routinely makes these offenses look wildly unprepared for it. It's crazy. And it's even wilder to think he's already flamed out as a head coach, so chances are good he's not going anywhere any time soon either.
  14. Belichick would have benched him immediately, and won or lost the super bowl from there come whatever may. Reid really gives his player's a long leash though.
  15. My biggest problem with that trade is we only got a 3rd and a single future 1st to let KC move up from 27 all the way into the top 10 KC was already a perennial playoff team, so the expected return on that future 1st you have to assume is going to be pick 20+ To let them move up that far for that package just never sat well with me, even before Mahomes became a superstar.
  16. I really, really wish the Chiefs had somehow decided not to pay him this year.
  17. I know, I looked into all outcomes in the multiverse. I can assure you it wouldn’t have mattered 😝
  18. It would force the 9ners to play all four downs, yes. But I just doubt they can do that AND stop KC from scoring the winning field goal after.
  19. From the Pats to these guys… If you’ve got a top QB and elite coaching on both sides of the ball you’re just bordering on unstoppable in this league. Unfortunately we’ve only got one of those three elements of the equation…
  20. Wouldn’t have mattered, imo. Brock Purdy is not out dueling Mahomes in OT. Just the nature of the beast.
  21. Once Spags defense locks a team down they rarely let back up. Brock Purdy is not putting this team on his back to make it happen.
  22. They were uncharacteristically harsh to KC to start the game but that seems to be all out of their system now.
