thenorthremembers
I'd say this is a smart move, but the owner is as much to blame for this as anyone else. They need to get a real GM again and start building their team. Hopefully Marone and Shurmur wont be long after.

It sure seems like it was leaked by someone with no knowledge of how an NFL team prepares. When they decide it is time to start Haskins then they will do everything to try and get him ready at that time. Anything prior to that takes away from game planning for the rest of the team. That team is a mess!!! 1
Victory Formation
It is still very peculiar to me that Haskins has not only not gotten a shot with the first string offense, but is running with the scout team.

stony
Such a surprise Snyder wants to rush an unready rookie to play the most difficult position in all of pro sports. So surprising. 1
wppete
Haskins won’t last in the NFL. He’s the next EJ Manuel. Gruden will be fired before the end of the season for sure.....

The back-ups are expected to listen and pay attention in case they are needed for emergency work, but they should get very little work in the offense unless they are needed. It is a huge mental preparation time for back-up QBs.

whorlnut
I honestly thought Gruden would get fired after The last game. Keenum looked like crap and the team has been mediocre for too long. At 0-3, I think their season is done and they are staring a top 5 pick square in the eye. Fire Gruden and let Haskins start to see what you have. This is a good year to need a qb with Tua, Herbert, and Fromm, so the more you know about your current qbs the better.

If Snyder would just stop meddling in the teams affairs from a football perspective they probably would have had much much much more success in the past 20 years. Once again if an owner is cheap that sucks but you at least understand what is handicapping the team and know that winning isn't on the owners list of priorities. However if you are so thirsty for win but you are the problem then the solution is frustratingly obvious to everyone except the owner.

Coach Tuesday
That organization is rotten to the core. Little things like misspelling London Fletcher’s name on the scoreboard the other night when they honored him. The players are out of shape because the strength and conditioning program is broken. Rob's House
Gruden's had some tough luck on that team. He followed a 4-12 debut season (an improvement from his predecessor) with 2 winning seasons. After a down year in 2017 (7-9) they looked poised to make the playoffs starting 6-3 before losing their QB (and then losing their b/u QB) to injury. Now they're paying a A Smith a huge chunk of money to rehab. I don't know how much influence Gruden has over personnel, but it's fair to wonder if the reason for some of their draft blunders and personnel problems (i.e. mediocre talents like Josh Norman eating up their cap space) is their meddling owner. Snyder is a fan who thinks he knows better than the pros, and can't seem to help himself from overruling them. He's the common denominator in Washington over the last 20+ years.
