Kraft hurt Belichik's chances at becoming the Falcons HC per NYP.

Kraft seems like an ass.  The doc was a smear campaign on Bill.  Not wanting Bill to get hired and win elsewhere is petty.  Kraft believes Brady would have won another Superbowl in Ne and Bill ruined it.  Reality is New England didnt have the roster.

Belichick is a control freak......

easy for an owner to reluctantly put up with his arrogance when he is winning as evidenced by N.E. making it to the AFC Championship game 13 times from 2001-2018.

as soon as the winning stops....out the door......then kraft happily sabotaging his future

Men find their identity in two things: what they do for a living, and their family life.

Belichick lost his coaching gig, and he lost his girlfriend.

He must not be a very happy man right now.

Arthur Blank: "Bill, do you have any explanation for your 36-44 record in Cleveland without Brady? Or your 5-11 season in 2000 in New England before Brady? You know you had only one win better than Rich Kotite in the same amount of games coached your first 6 seasons as HC, right? What about your 0-2 start in 2001 before Mo Lewis changed your legacy forever? Or your 29-38 record after Brady left NE? You know he won a Super Bowl without you? Any explanation on any of that?

Belichick: "No"

Blank: "ok, well, we'll let you know. Don't call us, we'll call you"

That's why Belichick didn't get hired

All of this being said, I still might give credence to the thought of having Belichick replace McDermott after this season

It's not a pretty thought, and there'd be plenty of conflict - but give the guy a superstar QB like Josh Allen and he might just figure out the rest of it faster than Beane and McDermott have been able to

  • Simon changed the title to Kraft hurt Belichik's chances at becoming the Falcons HC per NYP.

The ESPN piece that forms the basis of this article form the NY Post is what you really want to read if you are interested in this.

I have not read it, but apparently it's quite revealing and suggests BB is done in the league.

In Cleveland he was a 1st time coach that got his team to 11-5 before the final season, which was a throw away season because of the planned move to Baltimore, which he went 5-11.

He took over a Pats team that were 8-8 and 9-7 the two years prior and needed one year to turn them into a contender. Brady wasn't Brady until 2006. His stats were average. He also went 11-5 the year Brady was hurt. Then they did a quick rebuild and got to the playoffs two years after Brady left.

His big issue came with making Matt Patricia the OC. He isn't an Offensive guy and his team wasn't good offensive but still remained strong defensively. If he took over a team like Philly or Dallas that can score watch out. Especially Philly imo

Maybe Atlanta dodged a bullet, because Bellichick hasn’t won anything without Brady, or at least that’s how I’m told it works.

Yes.  I've heard many dumb people make that argument in the past.

You can't keep a good Bill down.

Belichick being Belichick kept Belichick from getting another job. Nobody wants to put up with a rigid old defensive coach if they bring his baggage, He wears people out and he has no idea about offense without Brady.

Wow. I was wondering why it was a short term discussion with BB. Plus, all the controversy over the documentary, no class. As always.

For what it's worth, the Pats proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that being classy has zero correlation to winning Superbowls.

Belichick the GM was the problem. He shouldn't have control of the roster. The guy can flat out coach. Bill with Josh and Beane as the GM would bring a Lombardi to Buffalo IMHO. We will never know since McDermott will be here next year and most likely beyond.

Is this sarcasm?  He's already been a head coach and is 21-38.   By definition he is already a below average head coach.

Its not. Morris got a shot and he probably wasn't ready just yet. But he is highly thought of and a smart coach. I think he is going to do very well in Atlanta
