I would fully expect him to return to the practice squad later unless they fall in love with the new guy during that timeframe.

Yeah, they love him here, and his wife is supposed to be a real “glue” person for the culture. Maybe they carry two QBs on the PS. They have room, at least right now.

I mean I get he wasn't really good but he was a fun guy on the team.

Also the only one who kept this thing contained.

I mean he did have a winning record here if you count the games he played the majority in. I don’t think he was a bad backup at all, but not a top flight backup like Minshew or Fitz.

That lets him sign with another team after he gets healthy. Or he can sign back here after six weeks.

Not quite...it's the term of the settlement, plus 6 weeks.

Let's say he has a UCL injury estimated to require 5 weeks to heal.  As I understand it, he gets a 4 week settlement (because preseason isn't paid), and the Bills can sign him 6 weeks AFTER the those 4 weeks, in other words, Week 10.

He will be back once the 6 weeks are done.

Again, Nope.  Length of the injury settlement, PLUS 6 weeks.

He can sign with any other team immediately.

Anybody has a clue why don't we do the same with TE Zach Davidson? He seems to be blocking §500k in the cap space, per Sportrac.

An injury settlement only makes sense if the actual duration of the injury recovery and rehab is shorter than the season.

It wasn't disclosed what Davidson's injury was except "knee".

If he had an ACL injury, the recovery + rehab would be longer than the season, so no point to an injury settlement

I've never really heard him talked about in that way like Davis Webb was, would he be a good fit as a coach?

Maybe, but we don’t know if that is his passion as they don’t paid much, but work a ton.  I just heard today Davis Webb is now the QB coach for the Broncos, so he’s between Russel, I need my own office, Wilson, and Sean, that ain’t happening, Peyton.  Have fun being that intermediary Davis.

Also the player has to agree to the injury settlement terms. A player is not obliged to take any settlement. The big incentive for a player to take one is so that they can get back on the field once they are healthy. Usually that is with another team.

Remember the year we started with him on the roster, played against him twice, maybe 3 times?

It was 2021.

We played against him for the Titans, he was a PS call up

We played against him on the Panthers later in the year

They released him and the falcons signed him just in time to play us that year

We faced him 3 times in 1 year

Maybe he doesn't want to coach?

If he was just around to be an "asset to the QB room" and his wife welcomes new players' families, that can be accomplished as a coach

Why don't they just hire him as a coach?

Maybe something like that is in the works.  I could see that if Matt wants to get into coaching.  His wife being a glue ťype would be a good fit for a coaching path in career.

if i'm barkley, i wanna get as many accrued seasons as i can, first.

coaches dont have a pension.  He can coach into his 60s if that's what he wants to do.   No rush.

Plus, if he wants to coach, he might have to start in the HS or College ranks.  I mean, the Bills do seem to love him in the room, but we dont know if he has much to offer as a coach.
