I actually care. I cared when Stevie Johnson dropped that perfect pass in the endzone with no one around him that cost us a playoff birth.  Yes, everyone has drops.  Davis have too many and it costs drives which cost games too.  I still like Davis but he needs to drop less.

Stevie Johnson’s drop in the end zone versus the Steelers did not make us miss the playoffs bro

Revisionist history to the 1000 degree …

… we were 2-8 lol playoffs? A Catch their would’ve just hurt our draft stock… We were in line for a top 2 pick

Terrible drop on a perfect pass by Fitz, but certainly didn't cost us a playoff birth.  The drop occurred in OT in week 12 of 2010 and the team ended up the season 4-12. They started the season 0-8 and were 2-8 at the time.

This has been the consensus for months and people are just now listening?  If he was healthy he would have a workout video plastered all over social media.  His boy VM is a marketing genius and almost got the biggest dingus to ever own a sports franchise to bite.

Yea and there is a such thing as a good play by the DB

The defensive backs are getting paid also

The title of the video is Ludicrous… There is not three minutes of Davis dropping the ball… There’s like 13 throws on a loop And they all weren’t easy

If there is three minutes of Davis dropping wide-open balls It be really concerning… he just needs to get his head straight

Yeah, this is the NFL. Not every pass is going to drop into your hands like a floating marshmallow while the defender stands from 10 yards away and gives you encouragement.

Its always confused me when people say “it wasn’t a drop, the pass was broken up”. Yes it was. The defenders job is to knock the ball away. The receivers job is to catch theball despite the defender trying to knock the ball away.

Are you just gonna repeat that on loop

I never said he Doesn’t need to clean his consistency up

Of course it’s the NFL Einstein… The difficulty level of those catches varied from easier to more difficult

And I know one things certain… You weren’t catching any of them… You just talk trash from the couch

I think the issue for me is there really isnt a good comparison of what his contract should look like.  He's missed 23 of the last 45 NFL games due to injury.  He is 30 years old.  Yet he appears to think he is worth 20million a year?  Best comparison I have for him is what AJ Green is being paid in Arizona.   But honestly, thats even a stretch because even AJ played a full season with Cinci before signing with Arizona.

Any contract offered to him should be incredibly low base salary with incentives to bulk it up.

If you were Jerry Jones and thought you may be in a bidding war for a player would you be overly positive about his abilities?

The Giants also have doubts he's ready to go this season (see below). That's a 1st the Giants & Jerry agreeing on something. Plus his not working out or running for teams, does make you wonder if he's ready to play this season.

Yeah you guys are right.  My brain doesnt work so well anymore.  I just remember the drop.  Also remember needing to beat Pitts backups and didnt.  Put the two together.

In any case... I still care about drops because they still cost games.  He has too many.  Needs to get better.  Couple that with not much seperation.  Josh needs help, that should be pretty clear regardless of the deep balls he has caught.

That is a whole different saga circa like 2005 which I’d like to forget

So we have Giants sources and Jerry world sources pretty much saying he aint going to be ready to play this season.  Nothing from Bills sources.  Weird.

Yes it is.  Luckily for me my brain is broken so I only half remember haha. I do remember thinking Drew Bledsoe was going to be amazing and lead us to victory again though =(

The NFL disagrees with you.  That's called a Pass Defensed(PD).

I think it is kind of sketchy that the Cowboys released an update on OBJ's health to be honest.  That seems like something you keep in house.

Especially with him still apparently on his visit there. I don't really understand what they're trying to accomplish here. Maybe he'll get turned off by their treatment of him, do the smart thing and sign here for just this season to prove his worth for next year.

Not saying he isn't signing with Dallas or even gonna sign anywhere this year but I think Jerry releasing that stuff on the radio today is giving them an out as to why they chose not to sign him and Jerry doing typical Jerry things would have most likely kept that quiet and would have been bragging on the radio that they were excited for him to be there when I think he is just being cheap again. Thought he would give them a discount because who the cowboys are just my thoughts

Drop statistics are basically - its not counted as a drop if a receiver has to put any effort into catching the ball.  By todays NFL standards that is far outdated.  Receivers are expected to make half the catches that dont count as drops IMO.

Bingo.

A fact missed by many posters.

I caught on to how ridiculous the drop statistic was when we had Kelvin Benjamin and he was credited with about 1/4 of the drops he actually had.

Why do I get the feeling this diva is going to make a social media post or video announcing his decision to take his talents to "x" team whoever that is to create a media frenzy and attention.

Or he rolls into Buffalo with Bills gear greeting Von Miller, only to turn heel, body slam him through a table and reveal a Cowboys shirt underneath after ripping the Bills shirt off with Jerry Jones lurking in the background like an old school WWE manager.

OBJ is making the most out of this circus.  Good marketing move.

He is not playing this season.

I dont at all think its good marketing if this is true.

If you think regular season is a no- go, playoffs only, you need to be upfront about it, sprinkle optimism on it.

If thats not what was conveyed it comes off as dishonest and time wasting.

Anyone that has purchased a used car before knows, you need to see that thing run. You don't buy a car with a bunch of dash lights and it doesn't start but "it only needs a new battery." I'd tell the seller to prove it and let me know when it's ready to drive. Anyone that pays top dollar for a car like that is a sucker

So Odell got a few free meals and free courtside NBA seats and gets to do it all again in a few months when he is actually ready to sign with a team.

Well played.

This is something for a guy like me to do. OBJ can afford all that stuff on his own. He doesn't need  to be treated by anyone. I think it's just about marketing himself and "staying relevant"

Gabriel Davis is ranked 26th in receiving yards. He has the same amount of receiving touchdowns as Justin Jefferson, Ja'Marr Chase, Ceedee Lamb, Amon Ra St Brown, and Mark Andrews, and more than Tyreek Hill, Tee Higgins, and DK Metcalf. Only 8 receivers in the league have caught more touchdowns than he has.

I'm not sure in what universe those aren't good WR2 numbers.

Even if your contention that he was expected to emerge as a WR1, well...there are 32 teams in the league, and he is ranked 26th in receiving yardage and tied with a bunch of other guys for the 5th most touchdown receptions. Among players with at least 25 catches on the season, he is ranked 5th in 1st down %.

The Bills offense as a whole ranks 2nd in yards and 3rd in points, with Davis being the second leading receiver on the team.

I'm not sure if the problem people have is unrealistic expectations or failure to accurately assess Gabe Davis's production relative to that of his peers. Saying he "hasn't stepped up this season" is not really backed up by the numbers.

Gabriel Davis also 183rd out of 192 receivers in catch %.
