Assumed it was expected myself, at least at some point. I do recall seeing a couple posters that were saying they thought he would be traded for some reason (don't know the reason making one believe that).... There was no way Diggs wasn't going to get taken care of eventually or traded imo I LOVE it that both sides have intentions for Diggs to retire a Bill. Very excited to hear that. Yes figured there was discussion in the works. IMO outcome was either he's sign a deal the Bills could live with (which is what happened) or if he was asking for Adams/Hill and higher money, then a good chance they could have traded him. If he was sounding like I need to be paid NOW, then could have seen a trade in next two weeks. If he wanted a mega deal but sounded like he was OK to play out this season, then would have kept him around and either see if by next year the market changes a little and are able to sign him or traded him next off season and draft a WR likely in 1st round this year. Has there been any numbers posted on salary cap affect or contract breakdown for up coming years? All I've read is a decrease in cap this year which is kind of a given. FilthyBeast
I definitely didn't see this coming but obviously a key move keeping core players intact and likely freeing up some cap space to secure one of the top DB's left on the FA market. Not sure how this story will end for this current group but this is the closet thing to a 'golden era of Bills football' since the 90's teams. Wyatt Teller is an all pro guard Tanner Vallejo turned into an excellent special teams guy Ray Ray is a starting return man in the league Phillips got big money from the Vikings Daryll Johnson was traded for a pick Peterman has hung around the league somehow Fromm, Wildgoose, and Jack Anderson were plucked off our practice squad and put on main rosters Not to mention UDFAs like Levi Wallace who became a starter and turned it into money. Or Ryan Bates who came in a preseason trade and as just extended. They likely wanted him as an UDFA for them to make that move. They have done an exceptional job. He also drafted josh and that gives a chance to win every year. We have to get cheaper at certain positions. That’s just a fact This is ridiculously short sighted - you do realize that since McD took over bringing The Carolina board in year 1. This front office has drafted 14 starters in those 5 drafts including 5 different drafted players that we have extended. In addition we have at least 14 additional drafted or UDFA guys that are primary back-ups and contributors on this roster. Beane does not need to start hitting on Picks - this team with this FO is by far one of the top 3 drafting teams across the league. Is every pick perfect - Nope, but he has used the draft well to create a deep team and used FA to ensure there are no major holes. Will he draft 4 starters at the positions you suggested - who knows - he may read the team needs very differently than you because he knows who he is looking at for extensions and cuts post June 1st around the league, but the one thing we know - the guys he will draft will be ballers. I am not worried about the draft because Beane and McDermott have been on fire getting picks that fit needs and wants both starting and depth. 2 1

Need to see the Bills get through the draft. I could see both moved at the draft. I am leaning to I can get Edmunds level play from Dodson. I know though the internal Bills think much more ahighly of Edmunds than even I do. If Edmunds isn’t going to be extended this off-season, or the first few weeks of the regular season, then he needs to be traded before, during, or after the draft to a team that values him highly.

I'm giving Epenesa the leeway I used to give Edmunds (who I no longer have patience for), considering Epenesa's rookie year was 2020 in the height of COVID, with no rookie camps, and remote training camp. I'm putting him on the same timeline as Rousseau/Basham, so I expect to see some progress this year. I think Rousseau has already showed enough for us to feel confident he is on his way. We'll see what these young guys pick up from Miller.

I strongly disagree with you here. TEs are difficult to come by. The price is skyrocketing and rookies take time to develop. Extending Knox in a market fashion similar to Josh and Diggs is the smart thing to do. He's part of the core we now have and will be the best TE in Bills history before all is said and done. You may not consider him a super top TE but he's the best we've got - and improving. And if you go out in the open market you will pay (see J Smith/ D Ngoku). This FO has been shown to be sharp. Extending Diggs was smart. Extending Knox is up there with extending Oliver. 5 3

I'd be surprised if it's a WR unless one falls in their lap. Unlikely since so many teams need a WR. I think it's the best available CB. Just my take and I think pretty much a possibility is the Bills will end up with one of the top receivers of this draft class, but it will be on a second prove it contract once his rookie deal makes him a free agent after spending his rookie deal with sub standard qbs throwing to him. In the mean time they get interest from any FA receivers looking to join a winner because we have Josh. He is a creature and other creatures wanna join him. So I don't worry about which direction they go in draft they seem to hit on the biggest moves to building a core that can sustain some plug and play with the defense. No one puts the loss on Josh as defense lost it, and yet even them caving had Josh had another go I think a good number of general nfl fans wouldn't be surprised if Allen didn't impose his will driving for a GW TD with a 2 point conversion. So whomever they draft is fine by me. Edited April 6, 2022 by AuntieEm
