MarlinTheMagician
I am very sorry to see Levi go. Consummate professional, squeezed all the performance he could out of the athleticism he got at birth. I will always root for him. Go get 'em Levi, just not against us! 2

That price does seem reasonable They have be wanting to go a different direction at cb 2 as far as skill set. I don’t see why else they wouldn’t pay that price (if he was asking for the same from us). I’m sure cb will also be an earlier pick in the draft, first 3 rounds would be my guess.

Can't believe the Bills wouldn't have matched that deal? Or maybe they don't believe he was even worth $4M per year? If Wallace signed for $4M per, than Spotrac is a joke, and has no value when trying to forecast talent value. I don't believe a team with SB aspirations can start a rookie at CB. Especially with a late 1st round pick. I’m sure they will bring in a vet who will compete for a starting spot with a rookie. But due to Tre’s injury, I’m sure it will be a vet who can play either cb 1 or 2 week one, with Dane/rookie at the other spot. For the price Levi took with Pittsburgh, the Bills have to something specific in mind, which probably entails a cb who can do more things, and let the defense play a little different. Also, maybe the Bills offered the same and he chose Pittsburg over us? I wonder.
716er
McD and Frazier could have Bert and Ernie starting at CB in this defense and they would still be half-way decent. I'm not worried about losing Wallace - I am confident whoever gets drafted or a guy currently on the roster will do fine at CB #2.

But who else? Might not fall to us. And are we betting the season on a rookie stepping up opposite Dane Jackson? How about a CB in FA, because starting the season with 2 on the roster might not be a great plan. https://www.nfl.com/prospects/kaiir-elam/3200454c-4155-0002-a198-92eda6859fa9 Zierlein, who isn't infalliable but who I most often find myself nodding along to when I re-read his draft profiles 2-3 yrs later, says "Elam has early CB3 and eventual CB2 value as a press and zone corner." Eventual doesn't sound like a good 2022 plan I've had glimmers of the same thought Edit: saw this list of FA QB. Didn't make me thrilled. Who do folks like? My guess wound be some of the older vets like Haden, Sherman, Peterson. Either way, I can’t imagine the Bills not having a specific FA cb or two in mind. Also, if they were to be planning on cb early in the draft to compete for a starting spot week 1 (with Tre out), I’d imagine Beane would only do that if he saw that there were multiple guys he would take, and he is confident he will get one. Kind of like how he has described his thought process when trading down in the draft. For a 4 m a season, it will be interesting to see what’s upcoming in FA and how the plan unfolds. I’m super curious which vet or two they bring in. Who would you want?

I mean, sure? But here's the thing: His surgery was reported as mid-December, Dec. 15th (3 weeks post injury). That's standard practice to minimize scar tissue formation. Bangedup did an update March 3rd https://bangedupbills.com/2022/03/03/buffalo-bills-tredavious-white-rehab-update/ It's an interesting look at how athletes rehab an ACL, but a key point is buried near the bottom: "Athletes returning before nine months following an ACL tear are at a 7 times greater risk to suffer another ACL injury." 9 months from December 15th is September 15th, and he might well be on a "pitch count" or just come off IR at that time and need several weeks practice to work himself into full playing shape. Bottom line even if Tre is working super-hard and it's going as well as it can, if the Bills are conservative with him to avoid that 7x increased risk of reinjury, he's likely to miss September. SCBills
From where I stand, this FA period seems to be setting up for RD1 CB & RD2 WR Fwiw, there’s a decent chance that aligns pretty closely with BPA. However, if a guy slips, we seem to be boxing ourselves in to needing an early CB and WR. (Which I’m fine with) Only thing that could definitely throw a wrench into this would be a Danielle Hunter trade, as that’s likely sending our Pick 25 to Minnesota.

We usually carry one more corner and I think he wanted to upgrade from Levi. I think they’ll use a rd 1-3 pick on a corner that has better wheels. We have all 5.59 corners. We really should add one corner that can turn and run with the best. I believe that Levi’s lack of speed impacted our defensive play calls through this time with us, especially in crunch time. They were so afraid he’d get beat deep. or maybe I have no clue, but that’s just my belief 1

How they let him walk for that contract is confusing. They really must of insulted him during negotiations if they made an offer at all. They let him test the market, then signed him for $1.5ish mil. He made a comment toward the end of last season that made me think he felt disrespected; so unless the Bills were going to pony up some serious money, I think he definitely planned to move on. IMO RB and CB are the two position rookies can come in and play well their first year so would be fine with CB in the 1st. Supposedly a deep draft for WR likely still get talent in 2nd round. I can see it playing out like that. And out of our combine meetings, it looks like Cameron Jurgens from Nebraska would meet the G/C criteria and be available in the 3rd (or possibly even later). DabillsDaBillsDaBills
Coming into this offseason I was expecting to lose Wallace in FA. However, I thought he'd sign for a much bigger contract than 2 years 4 mil per. I have mixed feelings on this. Even though Wallace as CB2 was underwhelming he wasn't a bad player by any means. If we can upgrade CB2 via draft or FA bringing Wallace back at 2 years 4 mil per would have been a great depth signing.

Peter
I am more disappointed about this than I am about JD McKissic changing his mind. I am too lazy to read the 12 pages of this thread. Did the Bills try to re-sign him? Did he want to leave? It seems like he signed for a reasonable amount. On WGR yesterday, I heard the end of a discussion that seemed to suggest that he may have been a source for Ty Dunne's article.
