Process
Is he really even a TE, or more like the dude in Miami except with no hands? Can he block? It would be crazy to pay him $8M. Gronk is an elite blocker, which is what we need in a second TE.
MrEpsYtown
He is essentially a slot receiver. So he and Knox both on the field

Neither is true. The Bills are at the point where they have to make decisions that involve real trade offs. It’s the point where you see what kind of GM and organization you really have. This is what a lot of folks have been saying for some time now. It's not about building a roster to compete for the division and playoffs anymore, it's about fine tuning and making several crucial moves to position yourself for a championship(s) in the next several years even if it means having to kick the can down the road and eventually pay the piper so to speak. We've learned who Josh Allen the last few years and we will learn definitively who Beane and McDermott are in 2022.
FilthyBeast
If we can't get Gronk I hope this team doesn't overpursue for a marginal player like this. If anything TE is a position I'm perfectly fine dumpster diving or spending a mid/late round draft pick on.
Malazan
Knox got the 20th most targets of a TE1 in the league. Sweeney got the 29th most targets of a TE2 in the league. If they want to change that... they need more than Knox (Engram or no Engram) Edited March 10, 2022 by Malazan

CapeBreton
Engram sucks, bad hands and can’t block either. That price is ridiculous too, let someone else pay it. Give me Gronk or Dissly who can actually block.

So get him before I have to actually call somebody like Buffalo.

Engram to me is basically a slot WR with drop issues. He's a physically gifted athlete with some upside potential but I don't know.

gonzo1105
I think its clear that Dorsey wants to implement more 12 personnel into the Bills. Thats what he has had success with in the past and this is now the 2nd TE being linked to the Bills that has a fairly big name attached to them.

Virgil
With our cap, I can’t understand paying for than 5 mil for a second tight end. Yes, we ran two TE’s last year, but as blockers. Knox is the undisputed number one guy and gets paid next year. This money should be going to immediate starters, like a DB or DE

Diggs/Davis, with Knox/Engram is quite the 12 personnel matchup issue for anyone attempting to defend us. Run out of it. Pass out of it. Flex Engram out to the slot.

He’s the worlds worst decoy, as he’s basically a receiver. His size allows him to body defensive backs and LBs can’t keep up, but a LB would push through him on run plays. These are all based off what I hear about him. Oh yeah, he’s also going to miss at least 2-4 games

Less slot receiver targets, more flex/TE2 targets. Whether that means Gronk, Engram, Rudolph, or a draftee, I think it’s going to happen. Tommy Sweeney won’t be the guy. They may essentially give Beasley’s money, and a bunch of his snaps and targets, to a TE2/flex type. 1
