How did the Bengals do it?

Mahomes was off, I think once he threw the pic, and the pressure started getting close he panicked and got away from what worked all 2nd half of the season. Stopped taking the check downs and started playing hero ball again which got him into trouble early in the year. Came back like a ghost today on him

Cinci got home in the second half - they were close in the first, but Mahomes is slippery.  After that missed TD and into the second half Mahomes was just - rush was on him, head was not in the game.

As has been said we need a disruptive pass rusher, don't have that stud right now.

How did the Bengals hold the Chiefs to 3 pts after halftime which included OT in which KC won the toss? How were they able to do something we couldn't?

We held the Chiefs to 20 points the 1st meeting……7 points in the 2nd half. With White playing it’s a different game. Also in the 1st game Neal was covering Kelce most of the game……I don’t remember seeing him out there in the playoffs.

Its not complicated to me.

Our entire defensive effort was basically pass rushers flying off the edge with no rhyme or reason and either getting looped out of the play or diving at Mahomes feet, linebackers who were - as usual - doing something that isn’t quantifiable to the average fan apparently, and cornerbacks playing off ball all game to hide their lack of speed/talent.

8 man coverage. Mahomes was something like 5 for 17 with 57 yards and an INT against that coverage. The Bengals adjusted at halftime, something Frazier is seemingly allergic to.

About those adjustments everyone keeps talking about:

“They just had a spy on me, for the most part, and I’ve usually done a good job getting around that guy, but they had a good game plan,” Mahomes said, via TheAthletic.com. “They were doing a lot of similar stuff in the first half, we were just executing at a higher level. They stayed with it. But I mean, I gotta be better. I mean when you’re up 21-3 at one point in the game, you can’t lose it, and I put that on myself.”

Their guys just started getting home.  Ours, well, did not...

Edmunds was taken advantage of in our game. It was a repeat of last year's AFCCG. Logan Wilson for the Bengals isn't flashy but he doesn't get manipulated that easily.

That and the Bengals have a better front 4, which is really sad considering how much investment we've put into ours. All they did was sign Hendrickson and Reader in free agency.

You’re not allow to criticize Edmunds

From what I read, Cincinnati dropped 8 defenders in coverage and rushed 3 men but were able to get pressure on the outside but also contain Mahomes.  Also the corners were able to run with the receivers which is what the Bills could not do.

Mahomes didnt play a flawless game like he did against us.

But the Bengals have a more aggressive and more talents rush on defense.

Honestly, the Bengals were very patient on the dline. They contained Mahomes and didn't try to go straight at him. Kept him running a bunch and eventually got home in him.

I feel like we got in on him but escaped and made plays because over pursuit.

They sacked Mahomes a few times and didn't blow the opportunities to do so like we did so many times last week.

This is true.  Our CBs were exposed and the lack of speed of our Safteies caught up with them.

This game came down to execution. The bengals bracketed Hill and Kelce. They rushed 3 or 4. But unlike our game, the Bengals wrapped up Mahomes and he set the edge well on their rushes. Mahomes had 3 Carries for 19 yards. That was the difference.

I think the screw up at the end of the first half messed with Mahomes. He came out in the 2H and tried to play hero ball, and ended up playing like dog doodoo. Much like he did the first half of the season.

He was really bad, unlike last week when he and Allen both played near perfect games.

Spot on, adjustments at halftime were key. I also never understand this not only with Frazier but with Daboll. It's almost like they say stick to the game plan to death do us part, I wish we had a guy that can change things up when things aren't going right.

Mahomes was off, but kc got production out of their lbs, and out of their Des.  Our over paid dl except Oliver did Jack squat, and out lbs were watching the game most of the time.

We have too many over paid jags (Addison, Houghs, star, Klein for example) and we need one playmaker in the front 7.

All of that said, the end it was coaching.  If our coaches were capable of adjusting, or just not calling an idiotic d w 13 seconds left we are talking about how we just boat raced cinci all the way home
