Dr.Mantis_Toboggan
Last year I would’ve been all about it, however from what I saw during preseason I think there is finally some solid depth at LB. If Jaylon Smith played at virtually any other program than Notre Dame, and then was drafted by almost any other team than Dallas, nobody would want anything to do with bringing in a player who’s been labeled low effort, especially to a Super Bowl contender. Once a guy become synonymous with not giving it 100 or taking plays off, their career is basically a wrap.

There are quite a few, but the most infamous "low-effort" player was Randy Moss. Also, the Chiefs just signed Josh Gordon. Not to mention this guy is on his third team. billsfan89
Seems like a lot of issues on and off the field. I think he won’t be out of work for long. I could see a lot of different teams offering him a one year deal.

Kansas City's defense is so bad that even a guy giving no effort is a likely improvement. Tampa just seems to be able to sign whoever they want, Sherman last week, possibly Smith this week. machine gun kelly
He’s been a dog since entering the league. Dallas took a chance on him with his injury and never lived up to it. I loved him at ND. Too bad. Pass.
2003Contenders
I would pass. He was not very good last year -- and this year was relegated to backup duty. Honestly, I like what we have (even behind Edmunds and Milano) better.

MAJBobby
I can find 7 players we can move off the roster and Bring Smith in for essentially Free (if he is willing to accept that from a SB Contender).
thenorthremembers
Surprised by some of the reactions here. The guy is far from a bad player. Has been incredibly more productive than Edmunds over a similar sample size. Maybe he isn't an All-Pro, but he also wouldnt be a bad replacement level player to have. MAJBobby
As I said in the Gilmore thread. If these players that get released are immediately linked to SB contenders like the Chiefs and Bucs, then we should ALSO as an organization that thinks we are SB Contenders should also be making our Calls to see. Def an upgrade over dodson, probably klein as well. There's a bit of a diva there for a linebacker that I'm not sure fit's culturally though Perhaps this humbling experience will help him ditch that reputation. But it's as likely he signs with KC or something.
