MAJBobby
I would rather have Olsen on the roster as the Vet Mentor over Lee Smith or Kroft any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Let me Caveat I would still rather go get a Hooper or Henry over Olsen. But if he is willing to accept a team friendly deal I would be all over it. Happy
Yeah, I'd be all for dumping Kroft for Olsen. Not sure how much Olsen has left in the tank. Lee Smith is more of a blocker (that gets called for a lot of penalties) who is inexplicably sent on passing routes now and then.
YoloinOhio
No. He’s done and headed to do TV. He was on with cowherd today and he’s excellent. I don’t think he’s the type who is going to try to play longer on another team. Feels like he’s had one foot out the door (no pun intended) for a couple years. btw - the next shoe to drop will be Cam when new league year starts. First keuchly, now Olsen, cam is next. Complete overhaul in Carolina.

machine gun kelly
I loved to watch him play, but he’s 34 and probably just wants to hit the next chapter in his life. He can spend time with the kids, certainly doesn’t need the $, and hasfrom a timing perspective interests from the media.

atlbillsfan1975
I think he is done. His best friend Kuechly just retired. Olsen has a family he loves and I think he knows his body is breaking down. Head to the booth and have fun while making money and being around the game he loves. NewEra
For sure. He’d likely get hurt but he’d be a great locker room guy McD cherishes and can help Knox and Sweeney. I wouldn’t expect a lot of production as he’ll likely get hurt
Ethan in Cleveland
I like the idea of getting rid of Lee Smith and carrying an additional swing OT. A third pass catching TE is fine but I'd prefer Sweeney or another young player. Knox and Kroft will be a fine 1-2 combo next year.
HappyDays
I would be all for this. I know he has injury issues but we wouldn't be relying on him to carry our offense. He obviously knows McDermott and as far as I know he's a strong locker room presence. If he still wants to play I'd take him.

AlCowlingsTaxiService
Love Olsen but I sincerely doubt he’d be looking to sign a team friendly (ie low dollar) deal .... he seems like a guy with options awAy from the gridiron

Lee Smith isn't a receiving TE, but rather a smaller tackle. He offers little value as a receiving TE, so could be they move on from him.

And according to the article/quote on PFT he is still interested in playing. Given our penchant for bringing in veteran leaders for a position room plus the Carolina connection plus cap space plus the loss of Zo as a veteran leader, I could definitely see this as an option. I’d be all for it.

Rc2catch
He’s definitely ring chasing if he’s playing one more year. We’re good, but I don’t think we’re free agent Super Bowl good. I don’t blame him for wanting out of Carolina. Between Rivera leaving/fired, keuchly retiring, the uncertainty of what they’re doing with Cam, no reason a vet wants to play their last season there. I’m not saying we’d have no shot, but don’t see the upside in him being here. He’s injured as much as he plays. I can see a reduced role in Kansas City backing up Kelce on the cheap, a decent one year deal in Green Bay after they cut graham. Seattle. Lot of good situations for what he may want. LOL So you don't know what he has left in the tank, but dump Kroft for Olsen?? That sounds like a well thought out plan! Did Kroft live up to his contract, no certainly not, but when you consider he was only active for half the games due to injury, and by then was relegated to 2nd string I think he warrants another year as opposed to bringing in a guy who you don't know if he has anything left. They may end up cutting Kroft, that's fine, but when you want to cut him for a guy who's ready to retire that borders on insanity. Doc Brown
It's odd he didn't retire as I assumed he would. He'd be a great one year signing as we'll have the money and he's still highly productive even at his age. Doubt he'd come here though.
