Bills rumored to be a suitor for OG Roger Saffold

Now this is one guy I can enthusiastically endorse them going after...

Still top quality at his position, but they should be able to get him for a shorter deal due to his age..

Structure his deal so you get most of his guaranteed money off the books in two years before they have to start signing their own...

Could be a fit..

One reason Saffold looked so good was that he had a solid LT next to him in Andrew Whitworth, who just decided he would play another year. Surprising really because of Rams center John Sullivan played so poorly in the second half of last year.  Kind of interesting that all five Rams linemen played in all 16 games.

Anyway, he would be a huge upgrade over what Buffalo now has at LG. Not really at Richie Incognito's level but at 6'5'' 323lbs he should hold his own. Only one hold penalty last year, 4 false starts.

I have said it more then o

nce. The skill position players in FA do nothing for me and the college lineman are not being developed properly. Fix the lines in FA and draft nothing but skill players.

Another point to that is quality lineman are available come free agency however quality skill position players rarely  are available come free agency

Old news but GREAT news!! If the Beane counter wants to go all in on him and Morse....GREEN LIGHT.

$$$$$$$

And draft the Gator.

If they go all in and sign Saffold AND Morse (or Paradis) - Round 1 needs to go to skill positions or D-Line. We have other holes than just the O-Line.

I get what you're saying, but why does it have to go one way or another?  I still say you go BPA at 9 or trade down or whatever.  If that BPA happens to be an O-lineman, take the kid!  Our O-line needs as much help as it can get.

Giving JA time to throw, and Shady holes to run through will make everyone look better.

Because there will almost assuredly be a difference maker at another position of need that won't be a reach at #9. If we were to sign Saffold and Morse - that's going to eat up a HUGE chunk of our cap space.

I'm not saying don't Draft a Lineman at all. I'm just saying using that much cap space on two stud FA Lineman and then the #9 overall is putting too many resources into one place. When this team needs a lot.

I find it hard to believe that a guy would leave a team with a young coach and quarterback, that just went to the Super Bowl, while living in suburban Los Angeles, just to rewind his career by a few years and move to a team with a young QB and coach that hasn’t smelled the Super Bowl in two decades and live in suburban Buffalo, NY. But....we’ll see!

We will have the resources to get the other holes upgraded via the rest of the draft.I'm betting the Beane counter spends up to 50 mill from the bank...still leaving us 35 in savings.

IF the Bills could land Rodger Saffold and Matt Paradis, that would go along way towards solidifying the o- line.

then we add Alabama OT Jonah Williams in rd1 and flip Dawkins to right tackle

I don’t understand why everyone seems to want to move Dawkins to RT.  The kid played very well at LT when he had a competent LG and C playing next to him.  Taking Jonah Williams (or any other OT) at 9 would be a huge mistake, IMO.

Saffold would be a huge help to Dawkins’ development on the left side

Didn’t Dawkins also struggle when they tried to put him on the right side early?

Yes please

I'm a little more hesitant than you are. If I'm going to overspend I would rather do it for a younger player. As it stands he is in a good situation in LA from location, team and coaching standpoint.  Obviously, we can pay more but I think he will stay in tinsel town.

I think they talk themselves into Cajuste. I’d hate that less than Jonah but blehh. It’s a need pick.

Yes and no....  Saffold and Morse/Paradis will certainly cost a nice chunk of change.  However the rookie drafted at #9 overall, no matter the position, is going to cost only approx $3.5M towards the cap in 2019.  Not a huge cap it.

Now if you are talking Cap space and draft capital combined as a measuring stick, that would def. be a lot into 1 position group.  However I once again would make the argument that the O-Line needs that kind of attention.

I thought the above during every single post I read in this thread.
