Because literally everything is a low-key dig at our futility.

It just seems like all these big time free agents are always connected to a. AFC East team not us lol.  Understandably not us cause we have no money

He already has one. At this point in his career, he's probably just looking for one more payday. If he can get that AND chase a ring he would do it. I think the biggest threat to steal him from Tampa is Houston. He played his college ball at A&M (College Station is fairly close to Houston), he's also from Galveston, TX which is not that far from Houston, Houston has $68M, and they have CJ Stroud.

I just don’t know that he fits a need there with nico as their big body

I’ve always wondered how Davis would do in that offense. I think there’s a real possibility this happens.

See mvs or other WR3 guys they’ve pushed into platoon 1-2 roles

Just think we could have drafted him and still had another 1st round pick. o\ F!@%ing Whaley. That trade/pick set us back years...

Not quite true.  Tampa Bay picked him before our original pick was up.  On the other hand, trading up for a HOF receiver would have been worth trading next year’s one.  Truly a monumental FU by the front office.  Make the trade and pick Mack or Evans.  Stay put and pick Beckham or Donald.  Rest of our draft that year was crap as well.

If Diggs and Miller didn't exist, and a cleaner cap outlook in general, I would be on board 100%.

Evans will be 31 going into this season.  A team will essentially need to pay out a lot of future dead/overpay cap for a few really good seasons

Can we get to 100 pages by April?

I like Mike.

But with how deep this draft is at WR I'm more into finding the NEXT guy that can have an Evans like production at a cost controlled price. Yes, the draft is a crapshoot but WRs on the wrong side of 30 rarely stay productive long when they hit FA. So as good as he's been that's a risk IMO as well.

Could we swap Evans for Diggs?  Trade Diggs to someone to get out from under his salary and sign Evans to a more team-friendly deal.

He has an untradeable contract

Houston makes a lot of sense. Comes down to what he's looking for. Does he actually want to win or is he just gonna pull a JJ Watt and go to whatever warm weather team offers the most money for a couple of years before retiring.

To be fair he plans to hit free agency, until he doesn't, happens all the time so I wouldn't be surprised if it went either way.

I wasnt prepared to hear about Evan’s personal life and its too early for this type of talk in here

Houston is not expected to pursue him

Why is that?  Seems every media outlet has a suggested Diggs trade

he’s not untradeable. It would depend how much both parties wanted to move on. It’s looking more like he’ll be here. If he’s here 3/17 that’s an 18.5 million bonus

I like Mike and had been pining for him for a couple of years.  But I think it is too late now, he will be too expensive.  Even factoring a discount to us for ring possibilities and HOF credential help, he will be too expensive.  We needed to get the trade done and that didn't happen - Tampa did much better than anticipated.

I'm excited about drafting a youngster.  A Mitchell/T Franklin/or K Coleman would work for me.

In terms of veterans I lean towards DHop.  I think he looked excellent last year and has a great salary of only around $13k (probably less than what Gabe will get).  Trade a 4th to the Titans and rework the contract for an extra year at that range to overlap Diggs (we need insurance there).

This is simply not the year to overspend on WRs.  Some FAs will get big contracts but when it comes to FAs vs promising rookies, a lot of teams that need WR help will go with cheap rookies.  There are too many good options in the draft.

Diggs is effectively untradeable for multiple reasons, but mostly because the cap hit the Bills would have to absorb is unacceptable.  There is absolutely zero chance of him being traded...about the same odds as the Bills trading Von Miller.  Not happening.

So not for nothing, hasn’t there been a ton of complaining on here for about 2 years because the Bills went out and signed a high priced free agent who was over 30 years old? And now there are 4 pages of people saying to do the exact same thing???

Evans is incredible, and would absolutely tear it up with Allen.

I just don’t see how we can afford him without crippling our future. But that is why they pay Beane the big bucks.

If I recall, Evans couldn’t connect on the deep ball Allen threw up to his vicinity this past season.

Probably not. It sure would be fun though. We would have to pull every lever we had and probably include a couple void years at the end to minimize his cap hit in 2024. Cut Morse, cut White, cut Poyer, maybe even restructure Diggs as much as that seems like a bad idea. All of that plus the extra $12.9 million in cap space, I think it would be feasible and give the current regime one or two last all-in years before they either close the deal or we let another regime handle the rebuild.

Don't think that's the right move. Unless Allen was 37 and this is our last shot to win a title before he retires, there's no need for this. We have a 10 year Super Bowl window right now.

You mean he couldn’t catch the deep balls Mayfield threw him?

I'd do that in a heartbeat.  I make more than that.

He is not going to receive 25-30 million at age 31.

He might get $25m AAV for a two or three year deal.  Just with the salary cap jump this year and there's a lot of WR needy teams with a lot of cap space (Panthers, Patriots, Texans, Cardinals, Titans, etc.).

Yeah, I had a brain fart. There’s unfortunately been too many hail Mary’s in Buffalo’s recent past.
