Who will be the first HC fired in 2023?

I don't think we are going to see any coaches fired anytime soon.

The 2 that I would say are most likely are Rivera and Eberflus. Chicago has never fired a HC in season. And if he goes they are already down their DC and have literally no one to take over.

The Commanders new owner has already put out he wants to see how the season plays out before evaluation. He's not new to owning sports teams and is noted for being patient.

Even in Vegas, Mark Davis was seen on video at a game ridiculing fans that were yelling at him to fire McDaniels.

And I don't see any way Belichick gets fired in season. Or at all, really. He'll likely "resign" at some point this or next off season.

Maybe week 16 or 17 we see a change. But there doesn't seem to be much smoke this season to me.

Not saying McDaniels shouldn’t be fired, but Davis isn’t the wealthiest owner. He may not want to pay McDaniels not to coach.

I agree with this take. The bears have put

together two good games in a row. Maybe they are turning a corner?

I think the Minnesota guy might be ready as well. 1-4 and sounds like Jefferson is hurt for a short bit.
I’ll pick their bye week 13

They won 13 games last year. O’Connell is a good coach. Minnesota is very patient too, Zimmer was there forever

I don’t think he’s that good of a coach. It’s 100% too soon to fire him though. This thread won’t be much fun if we all pick the same few guys 😂

I heard some story that Mark Davis doesn’t have the money for Josh McDaniels buyout. So he’ll be around a. It longer.

I gotta go with Eberflus if Justin Fields reverts back to the norm which is awful there’s just no vision for that team.

I have heard this as well last year. They’re short or were short on actual cash in hand or something. I thought there was a story last year they actually didn’t have enough money to continue grudens payments while paying McDaniels if they fired him. But I also read gruden settled out of court on reduced pay or something.

BB. Week 17 of a disastrous season, Pats lose to Buffalo in Foxboro. Kraft spares Bill from further humiliation the final week in Miami. Belichick has been already looking for another job that actually has some pieces in place unlike the situation he has created for himself in New England. Wishing everyone a very HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎈

Zimmer never won fewer than 7 games and the first time he went back to back non-playoff seasons they fired him.

I agree O'Connell will probably be fine... but three of their next 4 are Bears, Packers, Falcons. If 1-4 became 2-7.... I think he might be in trouble.

I am honestly surprised that there were so few few votes for Bill Belichick here. The team has not been good for some years now and it’s getting worse. It’s time for a overhaul there.

He’s not a young journeyman coach - he’s a first ballot Hall of Famer. If Kraft wants him to step down, it’ll be after a private meeting in which Belichick announces his decision to retire.
It can be argued that BB is an average coach without Brady, but regardless, he’s got 8 championship rings as coach and DC. HOF coach in NFL for 45 years isn’t getting fired.

I can see that point of you as well. I personally thought the Belichick was going to retire before he got fired. I was surprised that he actually came back this year. I definitely do not think he will be back next year if they keep losing like this there really is nothing left for him to accomplish.

Never happen. Kraft would tell Bill week 18 is his last and he will retire. If BB gets fired from anything mid season it be as GM.

My question with BB is whether he retires mid-season or not. This thing could snowball quickly for the Pats. They just lost 34-0 at home to an average at best team. They are missing their two best defensive players for some time. Apparently have no QB. And they came into the season with one of the worst groups of offensive skill players.

Pats are on a two game losing streak and they have been outscored 72-3 in those two games. They have @ Raiders, vs. Bills and @ Dolphins coming up. This could snowball into a 5 game losing streak if they can't find a win against the Raiders. And a historic minus point differential.

Hands down the worst of the bunch is Rivera.  The team barely tries under him.  Giving up 40 pts to the Bears at home is a joke.  And kicking the FG on 4th and 3 in the second half when down after that great run by Howell lost the team.

And btw that new owner Harris is a joke.  Laughing in the owners box when your team is losing to the Bears.  Not a good look.  Can't imagine Ralph ever looking happy when the Bills were losing.

Some other owner might fire Belichick but not Bob Kraft.

Mike McCarthy.  Perfect weather for a firing - emotional owner with high expectations, media has the high expectations, coach with a team that persistently doesn't meet them. The franchise is glued to Prescott, who isn't the answer.

If the Cowboys lose to the Eagles in blowout fashion or the lose to the Giants, Jones may do it.

Yep, that's who I picked before the season, but not until right around week 14.

Tough for me to see anyone fired in season. After the season though, I think the Bears and Commanders are locks to fire their respective HCs. The Chargers are a toss up depending how the rest of the season goes.

The bears have a weird tradition of drafting a QB for a coach only to fire him a year later and have said young QB start over with a coach that didnt pick him. Did it with Trubisky and now Fields. I fully expect them to do that again because its a strategy that makes zero sense

Are the Raiders smart enough to do that?

His days are numbered, but I agree that he will not get fired, he will "resign/retire".

I don’t understand why this keeps coming up about Mark Davis.  Don’t they all get part of the multibillion dollar TV money?  Is he spending too much time in the casinos?

That’s not enough money to successfully run an NFL team. They have to put their own money in to be able to do things like restructure contracts, give guaranteed money, and invest in staff and coaching. Otherwise the Bengals would have more then 3 scouts.

What owner would fire a HC mid season that has gone to 9 SB and win 6 in the last 23 years? Now would he be in outages to retire at the end of the season? Yes but definitely not fired half way threw it even if they are 1-7 which they probably will be.
