Will DeAndre Hopkins be available this offseason?

DHop will be a Bill Friday. The Cards want a 2nd so they may wait it out until that round is completed. We offer next year’s 3rd that we get for Tremaine and maybe a 6th rounder this year in exchange for them eating some of DHops salary.

This thread is going to lose their minds if the Bills take a WR at 27.

I saw an interesting mock draft yesterday.  It had Buffalo trading for Hopkins.  The cost?  Buffalo trades #27 to Arizona for Arizona's pick at #34.  That means Buffalo gets Hopkins by dropping seven spots to the top of the second round.  The big sticking point, that the mock draft doesn't get in to is what Beane has to do in the way of salary rewrites to manage the cap implications of paying Hopkins.

27 for 34 is the trendy predicted trade proposal by fans and pundits as of late. But I still think it's going to cost more than just moving down 7 picks. Probably also a 4th or a 5th.

There's some serious mental gymnastics going on around here trying to connect the dots🤣

Same thing that happens anytime something somewhat meaningful is said. Fans freak out. They start looking for any info and cling on to random Twitter accounts that say what they want to hear to gain followers.

Beans won’t overpay in draft capital or salary to get Hopkins.

If someone else steps in and offers him more money and the Cards better picks, he won’t be a Bill.  Unless Hopkins is directing traffic and is ultimately choosing the team.

My biggest concern is the salary cap implications.  Hop would have to restructure and convert a ton of his salary this year to bonus to make it happen.  There is only so much you can do to cheat the cap.

Again, it’s says they’re close but have to figure out money and compensation. What else is there to do? You think if they were close they would have 1 of the 2 things figured out already.

If anything it shows how little original information some of these “news” outlets have.  PFT just treated Pacman’s comment as a news item, when it was really a friend of DHop clearly relaying the information he wants to get out.

Also you can see how reporters, bloggers and some fans on Twitter playing reporter on Twitter, pander to their fan based and tell them what they want to hear.  If it happens, then they have credibility.  If it doesn’t happen there’s plausible deniability like “they were in contention but things fell apart”

What is the NFL story for the next 3 months if DHop gets traded tonight?   The only story left then is WHEN Lamar signs with Baltimore.   No other likely big name trade candidates........no QB's pondering retirement.   The NFL kinda' needs DHop to not get traded until June at least.

Haha I see your point...but Zona is either collecting capital for this draft, or he's likely staying there until season starts (injuries start to occur/teams get desperate again)

It'd be fun to get Dhop, but I've said all along it wasn't real, too many gullible (overly optimistic thinking) posts.  We shall see tonight, or possibly tomorrow night at latest.

I am a big draft fan but rounds 2-7 and UDFA and when they will sign their slotted contracts aren't really compelling story lines for May-July.

The more interesting story will be all the free agents that sign after the "comp pick" date..........but while there are some good players they aren't big names.

Just say no.

DHop only has any production at this point in his career because of his high volume of targets.

He will be 31 when the season starts. Was busted for PEDs and has started getting injured. Big no thank you.

19 games combined over the past two seasons.

IMO Buffalo needed to get a legitimate slot guy to replace the Bease, not an outside guy to replace Davis.

Last year Davis had 93 targets, DHOP had 96.

Davis had 100+ more yards, more than double the TDs, a much higher YPC average and the same number of first downs generated compared to DHOP.
